MSK Graffiti Crew - Mad Society Kings 35th Anniversary in Downtown Los Angeles

Жыл бұрынIt was truly a privilege to be a part of the MSK 35-year reunion this weekend. Mad Society Kings is perhaps the most well-known graffiti crew in the world, inspiring so many innovative styles and raising the bar for graffiti as an art form. They held a crew reunion this weekend in Los Angeles and saw members travel from all over the world to paint together and induct new talent to their roster. They contacted Superchief Gallery and our neighbors @missionclothing about painting our walls, and we made it happen with some all-time legends like AUGOR, REVOK, RIME, ROIDS, EWOK, SHOCK, RISK, VAYNE, TRAV, SAVIE, MERCH & more.

This was graffiti history, and it was so cool to hang out and watch some living legends do their thing. A lot of the pieces in our parking lot at the first legal walls these guys have painted in 10 years.

my childhood incarnate right here. i used to take the bus a solid 15 miles to the nearest Tower Records in Hawai'i as a teen just to lurk their graffiti magazines and marvel at the styles and artistic wizardry of LA kings like Hex and Revok. while my peers were looking up to pro jocks and corny Hollywood celebs, i was full geeking on the paint gods. long live the counterculture.

Last I saw merch he was hella high by gracies pizza and they were getting down on a mural. I didn’t want to stop them since they were getting down so I just passed by. It was honestly one of the best memories I have of LA. He was smashing everything at the time and then all of a sudden he’s just drinking beers, smoking, and painting while laughing with his crew. It was great to see.

when i did graff i used to see Merch Gear BNB everywhere in dtla.i always wanted to run into them cuz they were up asf, this was in 2007. crazy cuz i heard Gear passed, and i never see merch rep Gear tags. at a rave in 2011 erie hit me up when he caught me put up a slap tag..RIP . big ups Auze cuz he reps Erie tags since he passed away. kinda weird not seeing merch rep gear cuz they were always together

@MR. OBJECTS man, Pegas was killing billboards with a crazy flare style where you could see the shape of the letters but it looked like there was no outline out here in Mid City. Asoter low key has a real similar style to Saut. I don't know about this Natrl guy, I'm going to check him out, thanks for that. BAER is super dope just a whole different style.

So you lived under a rock for the past 20 years (30 years if you were to be based in Cali). Easily the most relevant crew in the world in the last 15 years. Style, quantity, originally, reach, presence. Claiming that you've never heard of MSK until 2023 and acting like your opinion is relevant is pretty wild. Even your neighbour next door knows about Saber's piece in the LA river.
