YES!!!!, but still some people like to say, "all he did was moonwalk and hip thrust " come on, you don't earn a spot into the hall of fame with just 2 moves. MJ was an amazing dancer/ performer way before he Moonwaked, he was doing tap, robotics, funk, popping in the 70s, in the Jackson variety show. This generation is unknown about MJ before Thriller and comes out with stupid claims and questions.

Bobby Brown was a BEAST on an American Music Awards show one year. He could dance his butt off while singing and you never heard him out of breath. I don't think he ever got enough recognition for his dance. He was amazing when he was younger.

I would even go as far as to say dancing was vital to him. He needed to dance just as much as he needed to breathe. Even his mother said he learned to dance before he learned how to walk!

Agreed. Prince was a mistro in EVERYTHING.There was and is no other artist that could do what Prince could. He was a singular talent that we've not seen before or since. A very special human in the world of talent. Not to mention a pristine artist .

I fully agree!! Prince was an incredible dancer. Plus, he wore high heels like James Brown to accomplish his many slits, jumps and turns. Even Michael could NOT do what Prince and James Brown could do on a regular basis.

Joko Santoso Prince was just as bad and innovative. Michael did not create any signature moves... he did however perfect them and put his own ‘flavor’ on them thus catapulting them to another level. This includes the ‘Moonwalk’ ... which originally came from a member of group Shalamar when he danced as a ‘Soul Train’ dancer. MJ was clever to jack and buy things his entire career.💯💯💯

The likes of usher, timblelake, beiber, Chris brown and more were inspired by the King, but could never reach his standard, Michael was born dancing, and we thank him for showing us how to feel the rythum of music, you can dance but he breathed it. Back in the day MICHAEL JACKSON threatened to sue MTV for refusing to play his 15 minute long THRILLER mv. They claimed to be New Wave/Rock station and he didn't fit their target audience. The channel ended up playing it every hour on the hour for weeks! And yes I learned and still know all of the choreography! When I was young my Mother took me and my two sisters to see THE JACKSON 5 at the #CircleStarTheater in San Carlos, CA(it's been gone for decades now)the venue had a stage that slowly revolved during a performance. Their big hit was #DancingMachine at that time. I'll never forget that show for as long as I live! My one and only time seeing MJ on stage.

Jeffrey Daniels from Shalamar was actually the first one who created 'The Moon Walk' it's just that MJ took it and performed it on a 25 years of Motown show or something back in the 80s. So HE should definitely have a mention!

Actually, Michael Jackson said that he first saw the movement on the streets, the kids break dancing and "floating." There were others before, but MJ perfected it and made it his own.

Michael was the best because he invented the moves. I miss him. You're right! MJ watched all the moves from Fred and Gene to Mr. Bojangles. But you all would have to admit Michael added his own flair to these moves, making his style his trademark. His variations on the moonwalk. Especially when he did the moonwalk when Elizabeth Taylor and Liza Minnelli were at the front of the stage watching him. MJ did this eerie-style-mannequin type moonwalk. It's on utube. Awesome genius!

Jackson was influenced by Fred Estaire and the old musicals, Jackie Wilson, James Brown. He incorporated bits of their moves in his dance repertoire. He learned from the greats - some of the street dancers also.
