After all the obstacles she experienced had her well deserved success. Another movie she was offered to act was The Purple Color in 1985 but since Danny Glover's character was similar to Ike that brought her bad memories, still I think she could been good in that roll

Rest well Tina Turner!!!! Thank you for everything!!!❤❤😢😢

On one of those NRL talk shows, they were saying that her ads for the NRL ended up being shown in roughly 80+ countries. With Tina willing to put her name to the game, she literally helped show the world our country's league competition. As for the 1993 grand final, I've only ever seen tv footage but the crowd singing 'simply the best' back to her was amazing!

@@trinaq Honestly, same. I also started loving Simply the Best because months before Tina’s death, they played it in a lot of commercials. I didn't listen to Tina as much as I listened to Whitney Houston, she had hella hits because her music was played in movies, TV shows, and commercials. I hope they don't try to do a second biopic on her because Angela Bassett’s version was a perfect movie that would be difficult to replicate.

I have been obsessed with Tina Turner since I was a freshman in high school when Private Dancer came out. I took a lot of flack from kids for liking this “old” woman. But, I stayed true. She is the most beautiful, strongest, electrifying and most groundbreaking person that ever lived. I don't know when will ever have an amazing voice that'll make our eardrums happy but Tina's will always be iconic. I know she's in peace after what she's been through but Tina will always be a symbol for strong women and young girls. Watching Angela Bassett's applaud worthy performance shows why Tina is a shining star that will never fade. She should have won that Academy Award.
@richietaylor9870
@richietaylor9870 Жыл бұрын
I agree, whole heartedly. Angela Bassett’s performance was astonishing, the first time I tried to watch it, I had to ask for it to be turned off during one of the more violent scenes because it was viscerally real and disturbing. She was robbed of the Oscar, and despite the acclaim, received no calls for acting jobs for a year and a half, which is mind boggling. So glad the film was made though. My mother was subjected to similar violence through two marriages. She idolised both Tina and Cher, and in the second half of her life used them as an inspiration which transformed her from a meek, timid and introverted girl, into a bold, funny, larger than life, tour-de-force. I imagine she had a similar impact on countless women, which means she wasn’t just a great musician, she was a hugely important figure in recent history and for the advancement of women. They could give Bassett two Oscars and it still wouldn’t be enough recognition of just how important and necessary her performance, and her telling of Tina’s story was.

@@richietaylor9870 Wow. I'm glad Tina became a symbol for your mom to get over her rough marriages. If you ever seen an actor who sweat and bled for an Oscar and got nothing, Angela Bassett is one of those actors. Especially since she hurt one of her ribs during the domestic violent scenes. She took my breath away and remains one of the biggest snubs in awards history. I can watch the movie three times for the performances but I would skip the scenes with Ike which are more horrifying than a horror movie.

I grew up a huge fan of Tuna Turner. I was 18 years old when she left Ike, it was all over the news and celebrity mags n rags. Of course I rooted for her, loved her, and remained a fan. When I met my husband, our first date was playing pool, drinking beer and chatting about our favorite things to do. One of mine happened to be having a bbq. He invited me over for the next day. When I got there, I could hear Tina Turner's new hit What's Love Got To Do With It playing. I thought oooh, if he is a fan he's a keeper. Lo and behold, he was. We listened to that album all night. One of the most romantic nights I've ever known. We were married three months later and had 22 happy years together, with uncountable romantic times together, and always it was Tina Turner in the background. Well, Stevie Ray Vaughn was our second fave. He got okay time too. But it was Tina Turner first and last always. He passed away suddenly in 2006. I was devastated. I played nothing but Tina Turner, day and night. I got through the worst part of that grief thanks to her music bringing back the memories I'll cherish forever. That helped me heal. A loss to be sure, but she worked so hard all her life, realized her dreams and goals, and helped bring domestic abuse to the front, likely saving women too numerous to count. She's resting now. I like to believe there is an afterlife, if there is, I know my husband would be there to greet her. She will be a star shining bright in heaven just as she was on earth. The deep true natural talent some are gifted with, those brightest sparklers in life are unmatchable. Tina Turner was one of those rare gems.

I've spent 34 years on this planet and I'm so glad I spent them sharing it with this Powerhouse of a human being!! I was not fortunate enough to have ever met her/ see her in concert... but because of all the powerful things she did... whether it was through her music or speaking out on domestic violence... she was such a force that you felt like you knew her. Every performance seen on TV... Felt like a front row seat at a Tina Turner concert. You guys ask the question what is my favorite Tina Turner moment? Well... I'm not sure if this counts exactly as far as what people would consider a Tina Turner moment... But the impact it had on me... Changed me forever. I had been part of a relationship that was definitely not what a relationship should be... but like Tina says... Sometimes when you dedicate yourself to something it's hard to let go... that was why she stayed so loyal to Ike for so long. ( I'm not saying that made it okay... I'm saying I can understand her... Because I felt the same way with a certain relationship I had) One particularly bad knock-down drag-out fight happened between me and the person I loved and that I thought loved me... and my significant other left the house after the argument... and as I'm watching the tears off of my face... Music is playing on my computer. Out loud I said someone help me... Someone help me let go. Right then don't want to fight started playing... I took a deep breath... and I turned up the music. Must have hit that replay button at least fifty times that day and the day after... when my significant other came back... I played the song again and then I told them I was done and that I deserve better... I said I wasn't going to do it anymore... From that point forward... I would play that song every single time I doubted myself... throughout the process of moving and getting away from that individual... Because of Tina... I finally made it out for good... after that day... they tried many times to come back... thankfully Tina was always there to remind me of my worth. So yes... I definitely consider that my favorite Tina Turner moment... Weather accounts or not. Wouldn't be here today to leave this comment... If it were not for that moment... when the song began playing... My life was officially saved❤❤ THANK YOU TINA!!!

So weird, just watched a episode of Music's Greatest Mysteries. And it was how David Bowie helped save her career, because he said she was his favorite singer and skipped his own party to go see her sing. And others followed him and rediscovered Tina Turner. She never should have been forgotten in the first place. But sometimes good comes from misfortune.

I had the pleasure of seeing Tina Turner at Sunrise Musical Theater in Sunrise, FL as she was making her "comeback" in the 80's. She was the opening act for Lou Rawls, can you believe that? OMG, Tina killed IT on stage and when she was done, half the audience left before the main act came on. I was so lucky to have seen her then right before she BLEW UP and became the friggin' icon and legend we all know and love today. I treasure my "Private Dancer" LP and cannot imagine how she did that album in two short weeks. Tina is "simply the best" and I will truly miss her grand and humble spirit. Meanwhile, I will dive into KZfaq to watch all I can about her. RIP my sweet private dancer and survivor of abuse and told the world about it. You go girl!!! BYW, she taught Mick Jagger how to dance. Now that is so cool...💙

She was my icon, my queen, my inspiration and life's blood. Her music helped me through many periods of my life especially my not-so-great childhood. My best Tina memory was seeing her in concert twice when I was a teenager. The first time I saw her, was when I was fifteen and I was too chicken to shout her name when it was quiet, but when her and her entourage was bowing I picked up my poster that I hand-wrote and began waving it around. She saw me, pointed at me and blew me a kiss: “There's someone up there expressing their love!” When she pointed at me, I could have been knocked over with a feather. The fact that she knew this little gay boy from rural South Florida existed, made my day. I'll never forget it
