The first time I saw Mehdi Hasan destroy a liar is when he interviewed Erik Prince and revealed the fact Prince LIED to Congress. It was a beautiful sight. Mehdi Hasan is a gift to those who actually want the truth. I actually RESPECT him.

Olbermann devoted a podcast to this subject and railed about MSNBC, just like NBC, fear of Fox and the right-wing. They didn't want to be painted in a corner Fox is painting about people who disagree with Isreal and Hamas about EVERYTHING. It's insane.

Cancelling Hasan won't change a damned thing about the situation in Palestine. MSNBC did the same thing to Phil Donahue in 2003, after he spoke out on his program about the lies George Bush Jr was telling the American people about Saddam Hussein and his September 11th connection. Of which there was NO connection. They CANNED a popular, money making program after pressure from the war hawks in the media and the Bush Whitehouse, who wanted to attack that country, no matter what. The government, and the press getting together to suppress criticism, is creeping fascism. It's been creeping in this country since September 11, 2001. Connect the dots, people.

So Mr. "I disagree" who lacks so much charisma during his interviews has to resort to getting his interviewer, Mehdi, cancelled and possibly others in the future. Don't even dare challenge what he and the government he represents has to say or make them feel uncomfortable. This is the real cancel culture.

@@JohnDoe-my5ip I hardly see how asking reasonable questions of a government official is "badgering their guest". I fail to see how trying to hold someone accountable for actions their country is taking that results in the mass death of children is indicative of a "lack of professionalism in this clip". I think that he uncovered the fact that the Israeli ambassador was outright denying the killing of Palestinian children was exactly the kind of professional journalism that American cable "news" media completely lacks. On the other hand, your second point that MSNBC is purging the network of Progressives is very likely true.

What's crazy to me is - it wasn't even THAT adversarial, why couldn't the Israel advisor, at the very least, say "I apologize for that tweet" or "I wouldn't have done that" or "We will reprimand (or other vague term) the person responsible". Even from a selfish perspective, it only makes Israel look worse by leaving it up.

I have never seen so many high level officials get angry and SHOUT on live TV as I have from Israelis and it's tolerated because they seem to have made it part of their media policy. That sounds dumb but all these things are checked and authorised. If losing your shit like that wasn't considered useful the Israeli authorities would put a stop to it or find people with better self control. It's a tactic to get people to think that they're somehow sooo upset and Israel is in SO much danger that even their government officials can't keep it professional. It seems to be working.

Yep. The Israeli cabinet is arrogant, entitled, and sadistic, as many of their cabinets have been. Israel--like the United States--is a perfect example of European supremacism and the lies of "benevolence" and faux noblesse oblige that colonial powers always tell themselves and the world.

Because Israel's government is refusing accountability of any kind. They see themselves as in a war of good against evil. Funny. The "good" guys have tanks, and jets and tons of ammo, and the other side has little by comparison. Can't be a war when the other side can't defend itself. That's why it's a genocide. If you are committing genocide, I'm going out on a limb and say you're not the good guys. Jews are the last people in the world I thought would be perpetrators of genocide. Yet, here we are.
@Starcrash6984

It's a sort of "The Card Says Moops" type of argument. The Israeli spokesman wanted to defend the best position he could, that Israel was honest and Hamas was not, and would only cede ground if it was absolutely necessary. So that's why we get "I don't speak Arabic" as if he himself had to identify what the calendar said. That's why he claims the tweet about the movie clip was "an honest mistake" even though it wasn't fixed and he would only admit to a mistake when pressed on it. You say that such a clip "makes Israel look worse by leaving it up", but to someone who wants to believe Israel, it's plausible deniability. An Israel defender might say "It's still up, and if Israel really believed it was wrong, I think they'd take it down" and use that to believe that Israel was never wrong about it. For that person, taking it down makes Israel look worse.
