A third party is a fine idea but NOT NOW!!! Get your head on straight, Charlie Dent. No Labels is as much a threat to our democracy as the overloaded primary for a republican candidate. Plus, No Labels has an idiotic plan to run both a republican with a democrat....think about that in regard to how our systems function. No Labels would be a ticket of constant ideological conflict between the president and his/her running mate.

Do you know that in the first election (possibly the second as well), the two candidates ran and the loser became the vice president. John Adams ran against George Washington. He lost and that's the way it worked out. I have read that they were at odds with each other, as could be expected as they ran on different ideals, but that was how it worked then.

The Washington/Adams administration was different. That was a disagreement over whether to go right or left. Currently, a Democrat/Republican ticket would be a disagreement over whether to go forward or off a cliff.

The worst part of his bad faith explanation was "I hope Trump doesn't get the nomination, but if he does we want to present another option" - translated: "We'll only support Trump in the general election if he first gets the nomination." And let's not kid ourselves. If Trump doesn't get the nomination, HE will be the third party candidate. Either way, the single best way to support Trump in 2024 is to vote for a third party candidate. It may be the only way Trump can win statically, by spitting the anti-autocracy vote.

Remember, its not just No Labels, and yes, theyre 100% backed by GOP mega donors like Harlan Crow (just as in RFK Jr btw), its also the Green Party. If not for Jill Stein, there would never have been a President Trump, there wouldve been a President Hillary Clinton. Of course. What Dent doesn’t say is that he would prefer Trump to Biden, which is the case. If he understood the Trump threat he would throw all of his support behind Biden. And Dent says if the GOP nominates anyone else his group will go away? So if DeSantis is the nominee they’d support him? I don’t see why anyone would ever vote for a Republican again. Even Republicans who now see Trump as a problem must realize that just about every Republican in office aided and abetted Trump? No Republicans can be trusted.

When Republicans accuse President Biden of being "too far to the left," it's because Ronald Reagan pulled this country so far to the right, and the GOP has continued to move the goal posts in that direction ever since. So, from the vantage point of the psychopaths in the euphemistically misnamed "Freedom Caucus," even moderate conservatives seem "too far to the left." Dent isn't a Freedom Caucus whack job, but the principle is the same: the extreme nature of today's GOP has artificially skewed the spectrum so everything else adjusts along with it. In any year before 1981, Joe Biden would have been deemed center/left or pure centrist..

Agreed 100%. We’d be a healthier nation with a moderate left to centrist party to counter balance the centrist to moderate right Democrat party. But just like many people didn’t like having to plant and tend their victory gardens in the early 1900’s but they did it because it was in furtherance of the greater good, the only patriotic thing to do is vote for Biden in 2024.

Get rid of the Electoral College, and a third party makes sense. However, as long as we are dependent upon the antiquated Electoral College - a third party cannot survive.

Third Party is a wonderful idea IF WE CHANGE THE VOTING SYSTEM. Our current voting system cannot handle more than two parties without splitting the vote and getting the least popular guy elected. This is a failure of our current system, but until it is changed we're stuck having to work within it.

I say we drop all pretense and start a go fund me page to collect money voters can use to outbid the wealthy donors for the services of the politicians we elect. For example, if the wealthy donors offer a president $700,000 an hour to make a speech to their employees after the president leaves office, we voters could bid $710,000 for the president to make the same speech to us if they promise to raise taxes on corporations and the rich and use the money to pay for Medicare for all, houses for the homeless, and free college like we used to have in America.

As long as the US electoral system is based on a "First Past the Post" voting mechanism, there is simply no place in America for a 3rd, 4th, & 5th parties. This can only change if somehow the US electoral system will change to parliamentary based voting mechanism which allows for plurality of parties to enjoy representation in the legislature. So basically, voting for a 3rd party is a sure way to lose!

As a Canadian writing to you on Canada 🇨🇦 Day, a multi-party system is healthy, but not in '24 in the US. With the Electoral College in the US, Donald Trump is positioned to win with a minority of votes. Democrats can only win with a massive majority of votes in swing States. In the unlikely chance Biden does win, then don't be dumb. Eliminate the Electoral College and establish proportional representation for Senate seats based on the population of each State. Expand the Supreme Court while you're at it and get the parties out of managing of Federal Elections.

If Liz Cheney, a candidate I hate and who is far to the right of Trump were some how up against Trump, and knowing how miserable I would be for the next four years, I would have to vote for Cheney. An independent Candidate WOULD be good if there was a viable person who could offer a choice other than either a Republican or Democrat Candidate offers. BUT there does not seem to be an individual that offers that possibility currently. Also, the state of the GOP itself, is cause for concern in that it ALONG with Trump is apparently anti-democratic and anti-constitutional.
