No he shouldn’t 😂 he’s a comedian, not a historian. I love that he has an interest in history and obviously does a lot of research, but he’s not an authority on the subject. His knowledge comes second hand from watching actual historians on podcasts and in documentaries, not researching the sources himself. There’s a difference between having an interest in history and being able to educate people about it
@Thrashman-ye4cf3 ай бұрын
@@samael4550I think the idea of a comedy history podcast is great. Especially with dudes like Shane and Louis. They know enough to make it interesting and could learn more during the show. That podcast probably already exists a thousand times over tho lol

1:35 My family originates from the Czech Republic, which was during the German occupation of World War II renamed to the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. My great-grandmother always mentioned that when German soldiers arrived, all the girls from the village would dress up nicely, possibly in hopes of attracting the attention of any soldier. However, when the Russians came to liberate us, my grandmother recalled spending several days hiding in a well to avoid them. She described them as savages, saying they seemed unfamiliar with even basic technologies like a faucet. My great-grandparents had an outdoor tap and one of the soldiers, unable to figure out how to use it, simply shot it off with his gun to get the water flowing.

Although the term is real, it is somewhat overstated. If u look at the map of pre WWII significant German population exclaves, they existed in well-established form for generations or even centuries, in Eastern lands, including as far east as a lot of Soviet held territory, all the way to the black sea, the Volga, and Dniper rivers, respectively. In many ways much of the land and especially the economic systems of the eastern lands "earmarked for lebensraum" was already German and predates german nationalism. Very controversial to say that, i know. But it has a indisputable historical basis, and idea of lebensraum as we know it today was a key piece of thoroughly whitewashed post war propaganda utilized by the allies.

“I didn’t know they stormed Berlin.” It’s crazy that, as I get older, I realize more and more that Matt is the common level of education in this country and most people straight up wasted 12-20 years in school. Just woke up everyday and waited for lunchtime and the final bell. First time in human history it’s been common for people of our economic stature to be able to read and write and we’re voluntarily marching ourselves back to illiteracy and subjugation. At least Matt is hilarious, most people are dumb and not funny. Also, it wasn’t entirely racial. Germans, as well as Japanese, hated communism. That’s one of the reasons why we swept so many Japanese war crimes under the rug because their ideology aligned with ours and we have used Japan as a puppet state to buffer against Soviet and Chinese communism in Asia the past 80 years. We tolerated a lot of smaller fascist regimes in the wake of WWII in the name of not allowing communism to develop. Our feeling was “we’d defeated fascism after allowing it to perpetuate in the 20s and 30s, now we need to use the fascist states to combat communism from growing into another anti-freedom movement which leads us to a global conflict.” Through all of Americas 50s and 60s BS, we at least had righteous reasoning. We didn’t want these morons to drag us into another global war, this time featuring nukes. Now we are openly heading towards that and funding the process. We could just separate again and invest in our own region, stabilizing our neighbors to prevent the border crisis which burdens us and gives credence to Chinese influence in the Americas. But instead we’re giving money to weird ethnic wars in Europe and the Middle East which will exist far past any of our lives. Anywho.
