It’s always odd to me with that as people mostly only say it about white guys, like oh that aged poorly. White guys were mostly either being mowed down in wars they were forced to fight in or working in dangerous poorly paying factories but somehow people act like discrimination was the worst thing happening in the past and white guys all just had it great. Ignoring the discrimination against the Irish and Italians and so on.

"Asia" means east. The word is Latin, but taken from Greek and originally was a reference to a land on the east side of the Aegean sea. European geographers would come to call all the land beyond as Asia. In America, those people considered to be Asian come from the west.
