The fifth suite is that it is in C minor the sixth is in D major.

Cualquiera con un mínimo conocimiento musical sabría que se trata de una tonalidad en modo mayor! Así que no es necesario mostrar demasiada pedantería por una equivocación tan insignificante. Disfrutemos mejor la música, que es deliciosa. Afortunadamente, poseo la integral de suites, interpretadas por este maestro, y debo decir que su ejecución me conduce a una sensación cercana al éxtasis.

I love everything this great man has produced, except for these Bach Suites. He has removed all of the dance like character of these dances - most unsophisticated and out of character for such a formidable intellect.

I feel his '91 recordings are far superior to his earlier recordings of the suites. He plays with a faster tempo, and removes emotion and embellishment, and simply allows the tones to speak for themselves. It's the less emotional perspective that age brings to everything. It's a more mature perspective. He allows the underlying structure to come to the fore. I feel the same way with Casals' two recordings. The lauded '36 recordings? I can't listen to them. But I love his '55 recordings. Same thing -- he plays with faster tempo, and he's less labored with emotion and affect --- just to the point.
