Great graphics is a bit of an overstatement. The graphics are good but not great
@msxwiki Жыл бұрын
@@LunaTheStars you can't judge graphics without considering what the technical limitations are. If you explore what a TMS9918 video chip can do (e.g. Colecovision) you'll realise these graphics are not great, they are SUPERB.

I got more satisfaction destroying Abadon at the end of stage 7 than I did finishing the whole game. 2 weeks it took me to get past that sucker. Then it became really easy to finish the whole game without being killed.

MSX was a good machine - when programmed properly. Back in the day, Konami knew how to make it sing and dance. Shame really - Konami are nothing today. Great vid!
@MrSuperspeedsonic5 жыл бұрын
Konami is still something today, even if it is not great as before, there is it a flame of trive that can lit in the heart of Konami. Also don't take this personal or rude but start saying something good about something and later end it with something sad is kinda weird lol, keep things nice if you started them nice, but don't mind me, please.

I wanted a C64, but my dad was convinced MSX was the future. In a way he was correct, but I was disappointed. That disappointment soon cleared and I grew to love my HX10 and the collection of Konami carts I had for it.

Diebels Alt This one is also on Salamander Portable for PSP; a bit expensive, but glad for the different version, as I was wondering why the Gofer version would be included on that release. Gives Gradius Collection on PSP/Turbo CD more reason to support as well, what with the different versions.

The Konami MSX division was headed by Hideo Kojima and staffed by the crew who'd go on to form Treasure (likely why the arcade ports had so many extra features added). A fine pedigree.

3:30 And now I know where those green faces in Gradius Rebirth come from.
@paxhumana201511 жыл бұрын
With that being said, Konami needs to make a Gradius VI. I know that there technically ARE six Gradius games in the main series but Gradius Gaiden is not called Gradius V, for that title belongs to another (though also great) Gradius game. Some of these weapons that are in here should be in this game, such as the double laser, the extended laser, the wall lasers, and the drill thingy. The rotating option was put into Gradius III (all versions), so why not the other awesome weapons?
@g.osiris16154 жыл бұрын
2020 anyone?
@AaronJLong Жыл бұрын
The Wiiware game Gradius Rebirth is a prequel that takes place 2 years before this game and also features Dr. Venom and James Burton, with Venom's plans for a coup and subsequent exile happening at the end, with a "To be continued." Sadly, they never did make a modern remake of this game.

@dave4shmups Yeah the scrolling is choppy, but you get used to it pretty quick. That's how all the Konami Shmups (And a lot of MSX games) are in general but don't miss out on this game it's really good! That or you could play the X68000 version Nemesis 90' Kai, Personally I recommend you play both versions.

There is actually a safe spot on the final boss too red bullets and the lightening cannot hit you and it is not tucking yourself away into a corner, from memory it is around the middle of the screen takes a bit of playing around to find it but the way the lightening fires it curves over the top of the Metalion and the below it as it passes it by.

¿What if the scientist Dr. Venom is right, and had very scientific reasons to overthrow the despotic emperor who send him to Siberia planet, then starts a rebellion, and you're one of the bad guys trying to stop it? The pilot looks pretty evil 2:27. You're the Vader of this story.

Took you a month to come up with in accurate that answer, huh? As for innovation, there has been very little lately and no, not because I'm scared, because there hasn't been much progress, it's simple as that. One game used to have a great OST but in these days one game OST has only 3-5 listenable songs that we can care or call as memorizable. As for the innovation. There are plenty, but still it doesn't make game better music than it was.

The player of this TAS run is actually quite bad. I'm laughing at the confusion with up and down lasers he has in the beginning, as if trying it for first time. Also he is using force field like an idiot. He knows he can outmaneuver everything by playing at fraction of real gameplay speed.
