Aoraki Mount Cook National Park is one of the most beautiful places on Earth we have been to and was definitely our top place to visit in our South Island Winter trip. In this video, we walk through what it's like to stay at the hermitage hotel and what free activities there are in the area (mainly walks). Our Top walks our Hooker Valley, Tasman Glacier and Sealy tarns. In this video, we will take you on these amazing walks with us and talk about tips to prepare you for this trip.
Please take care with the avalanche risks on the walks and check the board at the start of the walk or ask the info site before going on your walk.

What month did you visit? I hear a lot of activities are closed July and August. Thanks!

@andrewcastle we visited in late August. The main activity that didn’t run in those months was Glacier explorers, otherwise all the tracks were open, so there is still plenty to do. All the activities we did were free and open to public, so this didn’t really affect us and we still had a great time.

the Hooker Valley in winter looks very nice indeed 😁, dare I hope I might be there in 2024... Sealy Tarns, tried it a few years back, got up to approx 75% of the way before my legs went jelly, being afraid of heights 🫣
