With barely 24 hours of planning, I decided to head up to New Hampshire to redeem myself from last year's failed, 4 summit, overnight when I realized I had forgotten my sleeping bag.
Starting off at the famous hairpin curve on the Kancamagus Scenic Byway (route 112) the trail winds it's way gently for a few miles before starting a manegeable, but steep, ascent up either the North peak or South peak with an absolutely breathtaking stroll between the two.
Starting this one off very early was an easy call to make with it being Labor Day weekend so I only encountered a lot of traffic at North peak and on my descent back to the trailhead. With this hike being, overall, as easy as it was I can see this trailhead getting a lot of use regardless of the day of the week. If you are looking for solitude, keep this in mind.
WIth any luck I may try to get one more, early Fall, trip up here to bag a couple of more peaks but I also have some plans to head back to the Lake George area so we'll see how it goes.
