There is a hiccup in the rollout of the MTA’s new “open gangway” subway cars.

@@blpalv15 Those things are what ifs. Because this is nyc and a nasty city to live in. A person will smell shit and piss on the train or off. The subway tunnels are nothing but a sewer because people go in between the cars to relieve themselves. Hopefully now the open train cars will put a end to that filth. As far as no where to Xscape during a emergency. There are conductors on every train that can radio the police at anytime.
@Aatrixian5 ай бұрын
@@jonathanprince3724 If you actually used common sense in that noggin of yours, you'd be able to determine that the open train cars will only make the filth worse. You basically contradicted yourself by saying *"Those things are what ifs. Because this is nyc and a nasty city to live in."* It's not a 'what-if' since those things are happening regularly, and as you already admitted, it's because nyc is nasty and uncivilized. I really like the design of the open gangway cars, but just as @what-co7od mentioned, it will just create more of a safety issue and a bigger inconvenience for hygiene. If a shooter enters those cars, they have the capability to shoot more people a lot quicker and more efficiently. If someone takes drugs or smokes in the train, the fumes will spread throughout more cars, and nobody will be able to escape unless they all leave to the other half of the train, which will cause more crowding. The same applies to people taking dumps and pissing in the train. This applies to people blasting music and people fooling around, running through the train causing their ruckus. The open-gangways will not fix the problem, they will only make it worse. Use your brain.

That's more a problem for closed-off cars than this. How bad things smell is about a few things: 1) How much scent is being emitted, 2) how much of that scent reaches you, and 3) how much dissipation there is of the smell. Open gangway cars actually help with #3 directly. Also, open-gangway means you have a lot more ability to just move between cars, which helps with #2.

I completely agree. The new R211 articulated car should not be operating where there is a large gap btw stations until all the bugs have been addressed and corrected. Experience has shown that the recently new equipment (R179- R188) that has been put into service on the C, E, F and 7 lines had issues that needed to be corrected even after the testing phase. The last thing that NYCT wants it a mechanical failure enroute on an express run that's btw stations and making it difficult to evacuate passengers or reach the train by car equipment, NYPD/FDNY or supervision. The A line has too many areas with long express runs in Mnhtn, Bklyn and Qns. The design is not flawed and this type has been in operation in Toronto, London, Paris, Toyko and other transit system worldwide. NYC has been slow to accept a change but they are getting there.

I just went through training on this train and there are so many issues with it, you wouldn't believe it. There is a lot less seating, for one, so get used to that. With open gangways, you cannot escape from emotionally disturbed individuals, for another. The MTA did not *choose* to not run these trains on the express tracks, the FDNY told them point blank they CAN'T because of the issues they would have if something happened on that train on the express track. The audio sucks. The announcements echo and it ia difficult to understand people when they try to use the passenger emergency intercom. Those are SOME of the problems. On the plus side, every car has multiple surveillance cameras which are recording ALL THE TIME. These trains are a huge NO, IMO.

RIGHT HERE THEY NEED TO PUT N.Y.P.D. POLICE TRANSIT 🚇🚇🚇 DISTRICT COPS 👮♀️ 👮♂️ 🚔 INSIDE THE SUBWAY TRAIN 🚇🚇🚇 STATION CAB 🚇 CARS NOT AT THE TURNSTYLES WHERE YOU SCAN & $$$ PAY 2.90 CENTS WITH YOUR OMNY SCANNER CARD PASS.

Now smelly homeless people can stink up the entire train instead of just one car.

I'm one of those smelly homeless people, by the way.

Notice the greatly reduced seating so more people can be jammed in like sardines. Clever.
@TheRandCrews5 ай бұрын
It is to increase capacity, adding more seat would just lead to less capacity and more trains. Pretty much just metro systems and lines have seating like these worldwide
@Gfynbcyiokbg87105 ай бұрын
You do realise that that just means that there is even more space, so less crowding

Normally it would be an upgrade but it's New York, the city of endless dumb shit lol
@christopherstory21365 ай бұрын
This is New York, not Paris or the tube and thier solutions don't work here, period. Yet another collosal waste of money. Extendi gbthe r160 order would have sufficed. (Commonality of parts, CBTC E÷etc...)

Great , now the entire train is going to smell homeless people . Mta is focused on the wrong thing . How is this going to stop teenagers from subway surfing ?? Come on people wake up . The mta has the funds to make the train system safe , they’re just being cheap about it .

Bad idea and waste of money from the liberal MTA

socialist system so dirty in rain and no1 cares. Yet we have to take it, I want to move out of this city one day!

“Liberal”!!! What is that. The MTA is transportation. I can’t wait for the newborn baby R211 subway cars soon. Yeah!!!!!!
@alecsc5 ай бұрын
The MTA is not itself a political entity. Either way, if conservatives had their way there would be no MTA. Public transportation and republican should never be used in the same sentence.

You’re a waste of oxygen lol goofy

Of course they’re going to say there’s not a flaw the cars already bought and paid for!! This is my fear about all this congestion pricing money…….. we’re talking about BILLIONS of dollars over the years, the MTA is going to just blow that money on all kinds of crap. Flawed trains, over budget construction projects, no show jobs, paying premium for parts. I wonder if they’ll budget money for cleaners to maintain the subways/ subway stations……. Yeah right. With all this money, they’re going to be making off of congestion pricing we should not see another fair hike for decades to come!!!! They say, all that money is for infrastructure, but they’re going to be making BIG money off of this new tax.

Shame on us calling ourselves Super power .these things could be amazing 120 years ago but now even the poor countries where China has built railway systems are much better than this . Forget about the new super power China's railway the most advanced the most sophisticated one .their metro stations and trains are like dreaming . The million dollar question is all the trains all the buses are full at rush hours you can't find a standing space so where all that money goes ? No one is upgrading the infrastructure
