with side loaders, perfect fit sleeves, an ultra pro matte sleeve, and a penny sleeve, you can quadruple sleeve your cards. ultimate perfection.

+cole defoe I actually like this idea; sleeve from one side, insert into the sheet from the other. Keep a binder safe from water damage, even more so than one with traditional sleeves.

Some dumb-ass in our local playgroup spilled an entire water bottle (1.5 liter) over the table we were playing at. Luckily we all double-sleeve so no cards were damaged. I'm the dumb-ass by the way... :/

Dear Professor, after watching almost all of your review and comparison videos, you convinced me now to double sleeve my cards with KMC Hyper Mat and Perfect Size sleeves. Before that i'd just used the Ultra Pro sleeves and thought that they are the best off all.

Hi Professor, This is a fantastic video as always! I wanted to comment and say that I love the idea of a grade roster on your website, it will be super helpful to compare side-by-side quickly when looking for specific products. But I also want to comment that without context (i.e. your videos) these grades may not be quite what would be best for consumers who need info. Perhaps including a one-line description of *why* each grade was given out, along with a link to the full video for context would be helpful. You might already be planning something like this (or something even better) but I wanted to give you some feedback in advance on the idea. Keep doing what you do... you're fantastic, and I'm so happy to see more content and your channel be successful!

Another interesting point you could mention is that a big factor in double-sleeving for me is protecting my foils from ambient humidity. I live in Australia by the coast where the humidity is consistently high year-round and foils will curl in days unless I sleeve them in a very tight inner sleeve like the KMC Perfects. Although no inner sleeve provides an air tight seal, as close to one as possible is achievable with double-sleeving. These sleeves, in particular the side loaders, would not suffice at all for that purpose given your testing and on that basis alone they would be a fail for me.

I recently re-watched your previous video regarding the review of Legion Defender inner sleeves, upon visiting my LGS I found that they did not have the KMC sleeves in stock. So my LGS suggested the Legion Defenders as an alternative. With a little bit of hesitation I caved in and bought them to give them a try. It was a pleasant surprise to find that all of the sleeves fit perfectly with little to no variance between each sleeve. Unless I was just lucky, I would have to suggest a revisit on reviewing Legion Defenders in your next inner sleeves video/review.

I spilt a coffee on my favourite temur standard deck. I double sleeved with kmc hypermatt and the perfect fits as recommended. A+++++++ thanks prof! No damage at all to the cards. Even managed to wash the outer sleeves and quality was so good can still use them.

Thanks for mentioning Pokémon! :D I watch a lot of videos and I think that they're great but I don't understand most of the MTG stuff since I play the Pokémon TCG ^-^ I can still relate to the card merch videos and the "is it worth to buy X?" videos since there are booster boxes and such in pokémon aswell. I personally think that Ultimate guard should combine their resealable inner sleeves with the side loading format. you'd have to find a way to get rid of that lump on the card from the seal, but I think it would be a good design.

i think either ultimate guard or dex came out with a really good perfect fit that you might want to check out. Im using them on my marchesa deck and they seem to be very similar to the kmc sleeves. i think they are a bit tighter then theirs though.

UltraPro also manufactures inner sleeves similar to those by KMC. I think they're just called Pro-Fits. I did the water test using a token card and it came out dry. If you have not done a review for these sleeves, Professor, I would like to see this in an upcoming product review video. Thanks again for all you are doing.

A thought occurred to me as I was watching this. Side loading sleeves would be good for use with a side loading binder? Perhaps this is the way to use them. You would then get the same protection within you binder as with a deck of double sleeved top loading sleeves and would not need to worry if you spilled a drink on your binder. Just a thought. Also I love this channel and all your reviews, I only started playing mtg about a year ago, and I have you to thank for all the products I have purchased.

Nice to see the Bolt print on the wall. Good call. As for results, I'm sticking with KMCs. No point to cheap out on double sleeving. I've also started just double sleeving everything. It's too easy to nick a card when swapping between decks or re-sleeving.

Since I haven't seen anyone mention it yet, I guess I'll say something. I think the ultimate guard side loading sleeves are meant as another way to triple sleeve. That's what I was told when I was at my LGS. They fit perfectly with the KMC hyper mats and inner sleeves.

Besides of KMC Perfect Fits with lot of TCGs I have started to use KMC Character Sleeves with my Bushiroad anime sleeves that I use with my WS decks to keep those sleeves in good condition since those are not easy to get like most other art sleeves and also cost more. Those are sturdy sleeves that you put top of other sleeves and thus those are little bigger than standard sized sleeves.

+SilentZombie Well, for serious players you probably are right SilentZombie, but think about the people who do MTG after school/University/College, where they maybe carrying food or drinks in their bag with their decks. I have friends who had a juice box puncture or a drink that wasn't completely closed, but did not find out till near the end of the day, when they pull out their deck, and almost every card had a purple stain somewhere.

I think the side-loading inner sleeves could be used for protecting cards in a side-loading binder. It may be a hassle to switch inner sleeves between binder and deck, but I think I can see some appeal (not enough to purchase though).

yeah, i feel like side load inners have to be used with side load outers if you're thinking about protection. obviously not as protective as the normal double sleeving since more edge is exposed, but could be much faster and easier to handle if you move your cards around a lot

Hi Professor, I'm a poor college student, and I have a lore binder of 1000 foil but cheap cards that sort of is like a "comic" of magic from urza to shadows. I use the standard ultrapro Platinum binder pages, but now I just want to sleeve them up for a little extra protection, just in case some stray dust get in there. The cards are purely for archival purposes, they are never leaving the binder. I was hoping to use the Ultimate Guard Side Loading since its loose enough to fit two cards per binder pocket, and so I dont have to purchase like a ton of KMCs. Could this be a viable alternative? Anyone else done this as well? Thanks!

I know for my personal trade binder the pages are side-loading and this is good for me so i can have the inner sleeves go against the direction of the pockets in my binder. this means i don't have to double sleeve cards in my binder and stretch out the pockets as has been happening the last year or so.

is there a difference between the max protection sleeves and the shuffle tech sleeves that come in a card box with yet more (too small to double sleeve) sleeves. I got that product and am happy with them. honestly if I were to mix them and my kmc perfect fits, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference (happened).

Professor, not that I want to buy any of these inner sleeves ( sticking with KMC as per your recommendation ) but perhaps they would work better with dragonshield sleeves since they have a tighter fit than a KMC. Did you test any of these inners with dragonshield?

I would be interested in seeing how the side-loading inner sleeve works with a side-loading outer sleeve, such as the ultra-pros. Furthermore I'd like to see how the KMC perfect fits faired in the side loading outer sleeve..... perhaps this is the intended use for the side loading sleeves? (although poor executed)

Most pros use side loader inner sleeves because they make loading cards into new sleeves before a tournament extremely easy compared to the normal bottom open inner sleeve. They are constantly putting their cards into new sleeves, while also playing at places where they aren’t gonna have a drink next to their decks. They way you angle the side loader sleeve so the closed side goes in first means no catch up trying to get both corners in. Since the bottom is sealed as well you can just push down and not have to worry about the card coming out of the bottom of the inner sleeve.

Professor, I got a couple of packs of the KMC perfect fits, and I've had tons of the sleeves be too big for my cards. I double sleeve my Magic and Pokemon cards, and they either extend too far down the card, or they are too loose and slip up the card when I try to put them in my main sleeve, being the KMC hyper mattes. I've tried to get a refund from my LGS, but they won't give me one or even exchange the pack. What should I do?

I would note that side loaders may well be useful with sideloading outer sleeves. I am not sure why I would be using side-loading sleeves, but if there's some really nice custom desgin or a good art one from somewhere and was willing to lose some protection by going side loader, then even kmc perfects would have the same issue these side loaders have in top loaders, and so a side-loading design having them reversed in the outer sleeve would be the only double sleeving option.

+Tolarian Community College KMC is the best inner sleeve by far for double sleeving, however most packets I get are consistently inconsistent. What I mean is that usually around half of the inner sleeves in the packet are perfect, the other half are normally smaller and just barely cover the bottom edge of the card and don't always make the "perfect seal" you mention during the SCG inner sleeve review. Very rarely are all the perfect sleeves in the pack the perfect size. Does this occur with you Professor, or anyone else?

I have been having that issue with kmc perfect fit also. I have purchased them from 3 difrent places and have found there is a lot of inconsistency. It's a lot more then it use to be. I'm finding almost 25-30% of them just don't fit right.

I also have been having this same issue as of late. I have _always_ used the same kmc hyper mats with the kmc perfect fits. I never had any problem getting them to fit until recently. Every pack of perfect fits I have purchased within the past four months has had 20-25% of the inner sleeves too large to slide into the hyper mats. What is going on with kmc all of a sudden? Lax quality control? Cutting corners?

***** I don't mind when the perfect fit sleeve is much larger than the card. I find an issue when it barely covers the bottom edge. So I have to go through and make sure I put the larger perfect fits on my more expensive cards. Yeah I don't understand, their quality has gone down. It's still the best out there, but it shouldn't be going down.

+Vince Inman I should have specified that the variance in size I was referring to was in width, not length. I too prefer a bit extra at the bottom; it makes a more secure seal that way. My issue with them is primarily trying to squeeze a perfect fit into a hyper mat that is roughly the same width. It catches and won't go down.

I bought the side loading Ultra Pro sleeves for ease of sleeving, not for them to be waterproof. While that is an advantage, the main reason I double sleeve is for foils that would get the top edge damaged over time. We've all had the poofy-air-trapped-card-slides-out-of-it's-inner-sleeve schtick and the sideloading sleeves don't have that problem at all, while still protecting the top edge. While I get that some people want them to be airtight, it's not what I'm primarily looking for. I personally also have trouble with my crappy LGS not being able to reliably stock KMC products for crap.

what if there were side-loading outer sleeves? you wouldn't be able to "mash" them to shuffle, but normal riffle-shuffling would be much better. i guess even with proper-fitting side-loading inner sleeves there would still be a much shorter distance for any liquid to travel, as it would now be going across the card instead of all the way down it, and the opening would be much wider as well.

What sleeve, in your opinion, is the best for magic ( for single sleeving)?

Since the side loading sleeves are a bit bigger could you double sleeve the side loads before using a regular sleeve or would it make it too big overall?

Are the top-loading Ultra Pro inner sleeves good or should I just go with KMC all the way?

Hey Professor, this is great what you're doing, very usefull! But I'm kind of stuck with something similar. I use the KMC Perfect Sizes along with Dragon Shield outer sleeves. Now what i've come accross is this, card + Inner sleeve + Copper outer sleeve works perfectly. The Fusion color also works great, but the Blue ones tend to be just a smidge narrower & it practically always results in the card sliding down out of the inner sleeve. I find this to be a bit strange being the same product from the same manufacturer, only a different color. Now I'm wondering if you have noticed that problem too, and if so (or if not), would you please do a little testing on that? I love my Dragon Shields & I'm very fond of the Copper too, but i like a little bit of variety in what my decks look like. Only now I'm affraid to buy different colors of them, just for this reason.
