If I wasn't limited to O54 curves I'd buy one. Something to note, out of the box the chuff rate is wrong. It should sound like it's going 50mph at 20 mph. With the DCS remote, you can change the chuff rate for a more realistic sound.

If a Shay is doing 20mph the drive line would break in real life. Some say 6 chuffs per revolution but in my many trips up the mountain at Cass riding the trains it does have a rapid exhaust at the 4 to 5 miles per hour pulling the grade. I can’t wait to get my custom run from Pats trains this weekend.

What do you think of the single truck tender shays? Are they less than the full length tender engines? I ordered the Scenic one with the small tender with the beautiful yellow lettering. Would that still look good pulling a bunch of log cars? I ordered 12 matching log cars, and would love to order 12 more and have it pull 24 of them. What do you think? If that's a bit much, 12 is fine. Plus a wood sided caboose

The three truck Shay was more common than the 4 truck Shay. It will pull whatever you put behind it without issue.
