Agree I had my doubt about Rami winning, though I loved his performance. I'm afraid they will pass on this one because it's a similar type of movie though executed so brilliantly and much differently. This is the one that deserves to win. Fingers crossed.

Full Metal Critic it’s the first major studio film to depict a male gay sex scene on screen. So so so many films have straight sex scenes and it shouldn’t have taken this long for a gay couple to also have a sex scene. It won’t be as important for straight people, but in a time where homosexuality is punishable by death in some countries, it can help remind us that being gay is nothing to be ashamed of.

@@fullmetalcritic7678 In some other film, it may not be important. But in this particular film, it is Elton's first physical intimacy with someone else. That's always important to some degree. But for someone gay-- and especially someone not accepting their sexuality-- it is a very freeing feeling... an awakening of one's self. It's not just a sex scene, it's a pivotal moment in Elton's life. In short, it was realistically AND artistically a turning point for him. So it was very important.

My beloved wife gave me the movie Rocketman as one of my Christmas presents this year. I got very emotional because I’m a huge fan of Elton John (in a healthy way). The movie was simply marvelous from beginning to end. This movie better win Oscars, Golden Globes, Golden Lions, Scree Actor’s Guild Awards, etc. Thank you very much my darling dear for us having a marvelous Christmas for the very first time as husband and wife. I will cherish every moment of it forever

I'm sorry, what exactly am I missing regarding the sex scenes...? I've seen the film 4 times and counting and I cannot understand what's so outrageous about it. I just saw the movie today and loved Definatly seeing it again.Taron Egerton next year for Oscar please nominate him for all the awards he was ousts ding as was Jamie Bell didn't know he could sing he starting to surprise me every time I see him.But Richard Madden was amazing he plays a good villian and let's face it John Reid was a villian to Elton thankfully he had Bernie in his life as a good friend.

Richard Madden as Frank Sinatra. I think that’s an amazing idea, I can see him in that role now. Do it! Also I love the rocketman film, Taron has a fabulous multi faceted voice and his fiery ness, intensity, energy and vulnerability in the role is stunning. I also loved jamie bell as Bernie taupin. So many talented actors in this film. Saturday night is my favourite song in it. I love the way it merges with reggae and Bollywood music styles. Also I was shocked at how sort of hot the gay scene was. I didn’t expect it not to be cringey. Shows how well done it was I think. A triumph all round.
