Attachai Fairtex’s unassuming nature and camera shyness belies an incredible story of a young kid who was thrust into a life in Muay Thai by family pressure, and rose to become one of the best fighters of his time. Like many poor kids in the Thai countryside, Muay Thai was a mean to ease the family’s financial strain. Attachai never had the chance to think about what he wanted to do if he was not a fighter. Since 8 years old, he’s fought professionally - first in small village events, and over the years rose up the ranks in big Bangkok stadiums with huge side bets, and also representing Thailand internationally. Attachai is known for his tricky ring craft and impeccable timing, often making his bigger opponents look flimsy and unbalanced. Watch his fights to see how he controls the ring. ------------ This project is part of a documentary series started by Angie, a Muay Thai enthusiast based in Singapore (follow her on IG to support her works): instagram.com/angiewon9 A: “A question I asked Attachai that had him perplexed was, “What is your secret to becoming a champion?” If I can paraphrase his (exasperated😅) reply, it would be: “..to put your head down and keep grinding. Whether you are winning or losing, there is always something to learn and improve on. Don’t think about the what ifs, don’t listen to what people are saying, don’t watch what they are doing. Sometimes too much of that can mess up your head, and distract you from your path. Just watch yourself and be mindful of your own progress.” ------ Check out my upcoming book Legendary Striking (60 pages free): www.legendarystriking.com If you'd like to see the full transcript of my technical breakdowns and additional details, sign up to my mailing list. I trained with this guy; one of the most real guys ever. An incredible trainer and mind for the sport. It's a whole different level with him. Threw me around like a rag doll. They play this game like volleyball except it's with your feet from time to time as well. Great place to train if anyone is inclined.

Thanks for putting these up. The interview really let his personality shine through. I went Attachai's gym for a bit, and he really is a kind, unassuming man who just wants the people around him to be comfortable and happy. Its amazing how so many of these Thai fighters seem so placid in daily life but are utterly savage in the ring.

Moved to Canada at 14 y.o. and every time I mentioned that I'm thai , most of the time,e people here talk and ask about muay thai it is a big deal around the world and I feel very proud.
