Have a 2015 Golf 7 here. Will this device reset the handbrake actuators to their service position (for brake pad change) without an extra-cost software upgrade?

Hi there. That will depend on the option that they are selling at the time. If you follow my amazon link you will be able to check that In spec. Sometimes the tool comes with that special function already and that obviously is whY you wouldn't need.

As CG said, yes and I can tell you, it's very sensitive too. I just went to the garage to run a scan (it's raining and I'm bored LOL ) and it connects to my WiFi just fine, which is about 150' away. I've never had it disconnect. I've even tested it by tethering to my smart phone and that works fine.
