Fun fact: The blonde girl in gray at 6:03 was _also_ a fan made character. There was a contest with the character creator game where some lucky kid would have their character actually BE in the show. She even got her own episode.

I like the Spanish version better. Because "Frijolito" sounds funnier than "Snow Pea".

Not-so-fun fact: Celso Piña, whose famous song "cumbia poder" is featured in ¡mucha lucha! sadly passed away the past august 21th. He was one of the most legendary musicians of mexican culture and cumbia in general.

Mucha Lucha was the only cartoon that I liked hearing as much in Spanish as in English.

Way back in the internet of lore, I remember the creators of this show going on a rant about how Adobe Flash sucked and how they were glad they moved onto another animation software. It was...weird.

In Mexico it's very well said that foreign productions portrait our culture much better than local productions that attempt to teach about our traditions (You have Guacamelee as another example of it) but truth is that there is so much more in our traditions than Lucha Libre and Mariachi. There are ancient civilizations, warriors, mythology with lots of cool tales and science progression that went forgotten after Spanish conquerors destroyed most of it for thinking it might go against their religion, and that is what Mexican productions aim for (though we haven't found the way to do it properly). I am satisfied as a Mexican with these productions, I think Mucha Lucha is great and we as well grew watching it (I loved that you showed the Latin American Dub)

I went to an elementary school and the majority of the kids were Mexican-American like me and that show was HUGE! The Tazo’s were so popular that We would all collect the tazo’s and bring them to school, which later during an assembly my principal said got straight up banned 😂

Mucha Lucha is not just a show. It is a full on religion. It is....a way of life.

this guy i knew in hs would come into art club every tuesday and play the mucha lucha op on loop. i dunno what possessed him to do it, but hearing the first note of the op triggers my fight or flight instinct to this day. guess it was worth it though since we've dating for almost a year and going on strong. TL;DR mucha lucha op helped get me and my boyfriend together

Most of people does not know enough of latin american culture to understand some little things, like the opening theme is an actual masterpiece of hispanic music. The first accordion solo pays respect to a lot of latin american musical genres like tango, cumbia, cueca. The guitar solo is direct reference to flamenco. And who actually guessed the genre of the song, is a cumbia, and uses most of cumbia rythm.

Wow they really got Celso Piña (RIP) and Bacilos on the show, that's pretty amazing.

The Mucha Lucha tazos/pogs were probably the most beautifully designed and better looking ones ever to exist, the metal ones with holographic foil and the transparent ones were amazing

I am mexican. I was born in Torreón, Coahuila. The same place Chicos de Barrio (the guys who sing the intro of this show) are from. And i remember how as a kid this show really had his time when it was all the craze. Thanks for the trip to memory lane. :)

Mucha Lucha Academia is my favorite anime

Most of the Mucha Lucha characters grew up and become wrestlers in Lucha Underground. Ricochet is enjoying a successful run in WWE, though he since took his mask off and changed his finishing move name to the 630 Splash.

Christ, those dance moves were some of the smoothest, most lively animation in the show.
