Mudlarking With Kit & Caboodlers

Mudlarking With Kit & Caboodlers

3 жыл бұрын

This week we have a two in one film. The first half is us making two new dump dolls from pieces we have found. Rather like three dimensional puzzles and the second half is us mudlarking a stream we discovered while taking pretty pictures of the dump dolls. Come and watch our two for one craft and mudlarking film in the wonderful Spring sunshine :)
We have started a patreon page for anyone wishing to support us.
We also have a Ko-fi account, so if you wanted to support us by buying us a metaphorical cup of coffee it would be greatly appreciated xx

Love you ladies! Thanks so much for all the wonderful videos. Your doll making reminded me of something from my childhood that I have not thought of in years and years. My mother sewed everything when I was growing up. And she made doll clothes. One time when I was about 5 or 6 she invited the little girls in the neighborhood to come over and bring a doll and she made dresses for them. Thanks for reminding me. She also made Barbie clothes when I was a bit older and they were masterpieces of tiny stitches with all the trimmings. I also had an aunt who did knitting, Fleur. She sent me a whole bunch of little knitted Barbie doll clothes. They are all long gone, the clothes and my Mom and my Aunt, but I can still see the knitted hot pink sweater and skirt set that Barbie loved and the pink satin ball gown, strapless with a full petticoat trimmed in lace that Mom made for her. Good memories. Happy Spring!

Your dolls reminded me of when l was a little girl. I left my new Christmas doll on the stairs and our dog chewed on her face. Quite a few tears later my sisters decided she needed a very large plaster and my doll was always the hospital patient. In those days parents didn't buy you another doll. It was a lesson to take care of your things. A lesson l never forgot. 😳😊

Talk about a rescue, if these doll could move, they'd be doing the happy dance!!! How precious they are, wish we could do that with all the poor little waifs in this world. Very well done girls, I really enjoyed watching garbage be turned into things of beauty!! Thank you for this!!

An easier way to give the dolls hair is to fill the head with cotton, then take a knee high nude stocking, cut the toe off, and glue it over the top of the head. This will allow you to sew the hair directly onto the stocking.

I'm so in love with this! I often rescue old dolls just where ever i find them. I clean them up fix their hair give them a new face and if there clothing can be saved i do it i make them a new outfit. I love what y'all do with dolls. The little ones are too tiny for my old eyes now. I give mine away most of the time. My kids say my dolls are creepy. I just love them! Great job ladies!

I love to watch your imaginations at work when you make your "Dump Dolls". I checked the only dumpster I go to on a sort of regular basis, and found 3 rather large bottle stoppers, clear glass all, but all with big chips. I brought them home anyway, a large pile of Christmas card fronts for crafting, a medium size roll of pale blue stuff to make spaghetti straps on lingerie, some embroidery floss, and colored pipe cleaners, one wooden handmade toy, a man who does acrobatics when you squeeze the two sticks together and clean packing material, outside the dumpster. Watching your video made a very nice afternoon finale.

Kate you could be writing and illustrating a series of children's books, about the things you and your mother find and do,from the slug that made its home in a teapot with painted toadstools that was on the edge of a stream,to the dolls that are let in the diet with a limb or half a head missing, and how they get found by two lovely ladies and are carried in a cloth bag to a house with a cat and they receive a embroidered skirt and a hand knitted jumper and are pieced together from other limbs/ heads etc and live in their own doll house miniature
