Years ago, my friends Dad decided to pull down the old outside privy in his garden. Underneath the layers of old linoleum were lots of little round pottery tiles. When he went to lift them, he found each tile was an old pottery German lemonade bottle, planted upside down to make a floor. That bottle at the beginning reminded me of my friend showing me all the bottles her Dad dug out of his garden.

What a great day out that was! I can't believe how much stuff there was in such great shape! I think that shaker is a pounce pot to powder your fountain pen pages so the writing doesn't smear. Pretty interesting to find one as nice as that, looking right off the writing desk! Excellent catch!

I think Aunt Betty is probably happy to finally be free of her old Ginger Jar.😇 Nice finds!😊

Hi Adam - great dump site! I think you ‘salt or pepper pot’ is more likely to be a ‘pounce pot’ from a ladies dressing table set / writing set! It would have held pounce a powder to dry the ink on their parchments!!

Those are cool finds, indeed! Sometimes the rust on old bottles can be removed with a powder solution ( added to water) sold here in the states known as “ Iron Out”. If you do use it you will want to be in a well ventilated room. Nice work !

Hi Adam, another fab video, thank you. Your salt/pepper shaker looks more like a pomander to me. They used to put pot pourri or dried herbs or whatever & hang them in their wardrobes to make the clothes smell nice. I mean I could be wrong but that's what it looks like to me.

Excellent finds on such a great day. One thing: I have an old Brown Betty teapot,but without the lid,which is about 2 inches across. You found a few lids,if you ever find another,in reasonable condition,take it,I’ll buy it!!

I would have bought that all whites lemonade round bottle located at 14:50 on the video. It being different than the small square bottles that held lemonade crystals. It was a fabulous bottle with the blob top also.
