This was true. He ran to his gym. Did a full work out and exhibitions with sparring partners. Chased a flock of chickens until he caught each one. And then ran home to do it again the next damn day. My pops got to see him train at 1st Street Gym in Miami with a group of his friends. The started biking at 3:30 am to get there when Ali did at 5:00AM. They watched him train in that gym all day and were mystified when he started catching the chickens while doing his trademark foot work until 7:00PM. Ali was sweating like hell when he asked them where he and his friends were from. He went and took a bath and borrowed someone's car to drive them home. My grandad didn't believe a word of it from my pops but I met each of those boys as adults growing up over the years and they told the story the same way every time.

I did too until I ended up in the hospital for 10 days diagnosed with rhabdo and thinking about death... Be smart about training, because if you love doing it, you will want to do it 20 or 30 years from now. And if you overexert yourself you will have health issues and ultimately won't be able to do it and won't be happy.. I've seen many examples of it. Trust me, you can be resilient mentally but the body cannot handle some things. Don't be an idiot, please..

I surely not train as hard as before (I dont see the point to it) but I have never been into issues that led me to the hospital because of if. I am 40 and I still train. Mostly cardio and muscle endurance. With no weight. And this is enough for me now. But this still apply though. I train 1 hours of tabata 5 days a week. And trust me you need that mentality to go through it. My recup is 2 consecutive day. Like Mohammed Ali also said. The main focus during his training is not the the road work, weight lifting and everything. The main focus is to dodge things that will make him fail the bootcamp. You should stay smart in the way you approach your training.

"Not giving up" when it's hard does give you discipline, but I still think that many are pushing their luck because they are so driven, but due to all these "more pain more gain" videos they were neglecting very important factor such as knowing when to STOP, and not always comparing yourself to others and trying to be "the man" during which they hurt themselves (or just stop working out completely). So I think form, hydration, consistency, stretching and lastly motivation lead to the individual being and staying fit AND healthy. So yeah I agree with you but just think it's one factor that is appealing, with no one mentioning the "boring" but crucial part. :)

@@franepapak5491 I agree with you 100%. The key is of course to know and accept your limitations. And understand also the crucial steps of before training… warm-up and stretching ! When you are young you tend to neglect this part but it is in fact VERY important for longevity. I am not from this generation of people looking over the internet and comparing myself. Despite the fact I have always been in the high end performance in any group I was it was not a question of showboating, my only opponent is me. Would it be sprint, lifting and combat sport. But in a group it is the duty of everyone to keep in check the egos. When we train we are not competing!
