I met Ali when I was just a kid. He told me to be a good boy. I'll never forget it. The world will never see another boxer like him. A Heavyweight with the speed of a Middleweight!! Unreal combinations.

I think Ali feared Foreman in the aspect of he thought he would have let down Africa. Like a true warrior he harnessed that fear and turned it into aggression and determination and kept calm and won.

There's no way Ali could have lost this fight. He was in the zone. Tremendous self belief. Losing was not an option for him. Plus his speed and skill and intelligence. Foreman was looking confused after round 1. He just hoped for a win from throwing some hard punches.

Absolutely the most Magic moment in boxing history when Ali knocked out Foreman. Just everything that led up to it, Ali was like a Christ figure in that country, after the first round I could tell he wasn't feeling right. So he used his incredible mental fight talent to divise a greater strategy in his own mind, his corner didn't even know what he was doing. But Ali just stayed with his plan like it was divine intervention, and waited for his spot and bam. Wasn't what he planned before. Mazing.

Imagine a man possessing so many strong qualities all at once, A man who was an iconic historic and record-breaking sports figure, strong moral principles, physically gorgeous and stunningly handsome, warmhearted towards the common man and the down-trotten, humanitarian at a global scale, ability to be serious with a tremendous depth, using words with a lot of weight accordingly and can maneuver difficult conversations well, when in company with others he was known for always being light in spirit // joyous and humorous. He was superbly intelligent verbally, funny and witty on the spot. He was offered to teach poetry at Harvard even though he left high-school being considered illiterate. He was abundantly creative poetically, and brought verbal artistry to a field where-in it had never been imagined to be used. He ignited passion and new life to the sport of boxing and he invented new techniques and styles to boxing too. He was a humble man despite being one of the wealthiest and most famous on planet. He was a spiritual leader and voice of faith. He always saw eye to eye with anyone he met no matter their status. He was generous with his time and money. He was a sensitive man, it’s obvious to see how deeply he cared for the well being of anyone suffering. He pro-actively used his hard earned success to give back to those who needed it the most. He bravely spoke up for his beliefs at a time and place were you could get killed for doing so, especially risky for a man in the spotlight. HIS CONFIDNECE, TRUST AND BELIEF IN HIMSELF !!!!! What a breath of fresh air ~~ … Just to hear someone so comfortable speaking that positively and encouragingly about himself? Who else could pull that off without coming across as annoying? When he does it, we only look at him fondly, because he does it in such a charming manner- a skill / ability hard to teach or study. So many have low self worth today, seeing no light whatsoever within themselves… if only we had 10 more of him. I’m sure anybody can agree, we all feel wonderfully uplifted when we observe how he carries himself with such pride, respect and warmth. ALI ❤ A man of action, a man of his word. A man with a strong, warm heart. A man fiercely bold and brave - a man full of love and sincerity. What a fascinating man to observe. Brilliant we can look back at media like this, immortalizing him in a way that would not have been possible had he existed 200 years ago. Ali is the best man for admiration in my eyes, what a life he lead.

Ali recognizes Sonny Liston as his greatest victory. He was always mentioning Liston in his interviews comparing him to foreman, he would say Liston was a better boxer, hit harder, longer reach...... He even admit it , that he was afraid of Sonny Liston.

George Foreman use to be a sparring partner of Sony Liston. George Foreman said Sony hit harder then he did. Sony was who George Foreman wanted to be like in the ring and he was and just like Sony he was stopped by Muhammad Ali when nobody thought it was possible....the irony of it all.

njclondon2009 exactly. I don’t know why people keep saying that it was a close fight. Even the doc, When we were kings, which is great anyway, indulges in this romantic fantasy, perhaps for drama purposes. Reality is Ali did not make a single mistake in Kinshasa, and even if he didn’t fly, he did sting Foreman, with sharp precision, again and again for eight rounds. This fight was Ali’s technically best performance

People say it was a close fight because Joe Frazier was giving the "expert commentary" ringside. He couldn't accept that Ali was dominating the fight and was calling rounds for George that he clearly lost.

@@camtinley dats true he called da fight from a boxing point of view and not a fighting one u do know da difference in wat I'm saying rite from a street fight point of view foreman was getting his ass whip you know wit all dem body shots even doe they was landing and once in awhile hit catch him with one to da face and every time Ali choose to hit him when he did it look more flashy plus they where all head shots but from a boxing point of view those body shots count has points and Ali was not punching back standing and leaning on sa ropes taking da shots letting him it him so he was loosening da fight but Ali didnt cause he was not gone let da fight go da distance any way cause he had a game plan let him wear hisself out and get tired and once he did dat he knew he had to knock him out to win cause if it went da distance he would hav loss

I was too young to remember the Liston fight but I recall the lead up to the Foreman fight and thought that Foreman given his performance against Frazier would win. Then I saw the newspaper accounts the next day and the photographs and realised I had overlooked one vital component. Ali was the same size as Foreman whereas Frazier was four inches smaller.

Foreman recalled how his children were laughing at the film when we were kings when Ali was taunting him. Then he realised they weren't laughing at the jibes Ali was throwing they were laughing at Ali just as George himself had done when he was a boy.

It’s not true the fight was even until round 8. Ali dominated Foreman for most of the 8 rounds the bout lasted. It was a masterful performance
