The girl who refused to babysit was an actual asshole like bro its not that hard to keep a baby out of danger and the responsibility would never be THAT much like the exam was more important and it'd only be around 3-4hrs max like just let the child sleep and boom, u have less work I was sooo pissed at that story ughhhhhhhhhhhh

EXACTLY the moment she asked "am i an a-hole for not babysitting my roommate's baby?" i just got raged LIKE GURL YES YOU ARE AN A-HOLE AND MORE THAN THAT. No cause like who the hell goes to the movies and gets so defensive when someone is in trouble? I mean if she didn't knew her properly she should have at least been more respectful and help her, because she went to everyone, and decided to put her trust on this girl, and she just seriously went like: "nO bEcAuSe yOuR pUsHiNg mY lImIts" girl you weren't even busy you could have done that but failed her, i dont blame the mother for being rude to her she deserved that respectfully

@Leah Deerheart No, I still wouldn't tell them. He clearly has a lot to deal with, he has a new step parent and step sister, and that can be hard for any kid. Additionally, they've now changed religions (which is no issue at all) but constantly force him to change. He clearly feels singled out by his family and attacked constantly for his beliefs and in his eyes this all started when his parent remarried. Of course he has anger towards his family because they aren't treating him right. OP is the arsehole because if she could observe all of this and see how he's forced to go to his friend's house instead of his own, she should be able to understand that he's going through a lot and is hurting. Of course it's not nice to hear those things, but she should be compassionate and try to talk with him. Her decision has alienated him more when she could've talked to him and tried to reason with their parents.

The liver story: you’re not the ahole mainly because there could be a chance that he could take your liver and leave. If you guys were married you could get some benefit from court if he ever left. Tbh it’s never a good idea to do such big things as donating a kidney or liver if they’re not your spouse.

I'd say that the babysitting girl was totally the a hole. Your roommate has spent YEARS preparing for this and you won't do this favor for her because you can't handle the responsibility? She wouldn't have asked you if the babysitter hadn't chanceled last minute and if she'd been able to find someone else.

As a babysitter for multiple families I can personally say that despite how many years of experience I have the fear of a kid getting hurt does not go away especially the fear of you getting trouble for what happened to the kid. sure I sympathize with the roommate who needed to make their exam And her babysitter quit on her last minute but OP had said numerous times that she was not comfortable with watching the kid and why would you force someone who is not nearly comfortable enough to watch a child to watch your child. I understand that she was desperate but you can’t force someone to watch your child especially when they said that they don’t think they can handle it or they are not comfortable with it

I agree. They should have taken the responsibility, as she wasn’t going to press charges if the child got hurt. She could also ask a responsible friend to help her.

The girl who refused to babysit...she does realize it's not hard to look after a kid for, like, 6 hours, right? If literal teenagers are able to babysit kids to earn money without the kid getting hurt, why can't she? Her roomie's 2 years of studying (and thousands of dollars) could be completely wasted just coz she doesn't want to watch a kid for a few hours.

The one with the roommate not babysitting the kids is the asshole because this poor girl has spent thousands of dollars and years of her life studying just for you to ruin her future by not taking care of a kid I take care of my 2 and 3 year old brothers on my own for a few hours and they don’t do much and I’m 14 taking care of both at the same time and you in your 20s and can’t take care of 1 kid that’s just sad poor girl is gonna fail her finals for you to be happy
