Mukojima Hyakkaen Garden is located at 3-18-3 Higashimukojima, Sumida-ku, Tokyo.
The garden was created during the Bunka-Bunsei period (1804-1830), when Edo merchant culture was in full bloom. The garden was created by Kikuu Sawara, who had been a antique dealer until then. With the cooperation of writers and artists from the Edo period, he created a "private garden" mainly for flower viewing in Mukojima, the former residence of the Taga Hatamoto clan.
It is open to the public for a fee.
The museum is also open to the public free of charge on Greenery Day (May 4th) and Tokyo Citizen's Day (October 1st).
