I've owned my Mini JCW Clubman for 2 years now and have made a few changes including new wheels, exhaust, air intake and of course red mud flaps ! In this video I visit Mulgari, famed for their ICON Series of modified Minis, to drive a very special Mini Clubman and find the secret behind the perfect Mini Clubman.
The Mulgari Project 013 has a stage 2 tune focussed on drivability and some interesting works to the suspension and geometry to improve ride and handling. This trip could be dangerous as I need to do this to my car !

We love Mulgari. Their attention to detail is 2nd to none. True innovators with a quality approach combining all of the right elements. Alcantara steering wheel upgrade is a must, worth way more than its cost in so many ways 👏👊. Would love an Icon 2 but with blue or green highlights 🤔

I like it! I like the Mulgari approach to this car, make it nicer and better. Just slamming it and putting very stiff springs and damper can completely mess a car up. Of course you have to get your hands dirty!

Hi !!! Today is Saturday, February 5, and We got a new Mini today! We got lucky and our Mini dealership contacted us because they got in a 2014 Mini Cooper Roadster in excellent condition. So we bought it today 😄 now we have a Coupe and a Roadster 😃

@@mackemc3021 Glad to hear it. Pretty much every other car in at least the past 18months that has had work done on it, has had the ridiculous pops n bangs included in the remap, including Petrol Ped's very own Mini Roadster. At Goodwood he had to take it out of sports mode as it exceeded the decibels allowed there. Pete has said that he's having them removed, and whilst it's his choice, those pops n bangs were the most ridiculous thing to ever do to Ruby Roadster.

@@mackemc3021 The stance of a car I think sets it off, and yours looks perfect. Always thought of doing it to one of my cars but always worried about a crashy ride, rubbing, geometry and catching speed bumps etc. I have an OG M2 which I have had two passengers in the back before now, hence my hesitation to pull the trigger. Cheshire B Roads are not great at all! Any problems with yours after the stance work/setup?

Not a massive mini fan, but I think I'd be quite tempted by one of these. Just because of the understatedness of it all (says an i30N owner). Deffo think you should get your hands dirty, properly supervised, of course. 😛

The sound from that Mini is really good. I like my Pro Exhaust on my JCW in sport but when it is fully open it can get a bit much and after 3 years it is getting to the point I don't use it. The red seat belts were a nice touch as well. Will be looking at their website in the near future. Thanks.

Excellent and informative video 👍 Very interesting comments on coil overs as quite a few tend to go down that route. The pro exhaust is great in sport mode with the valve open but can annoy the neighbours 😩

Just to avoid any confusion the Mulgari car doesn’t have a pro exhaust. It has one made by Supersprint and is not valved.

Getting the suspension done first , then tuning the car, is underrated. Get the suspension right and you might find you don’t need the motor touching. Although a decent tune on top is nice 👍

Oh I like him. Be sensible and save some money. If coil overs were meant to be on a road car then the manufacturers would spec them. They don't and run appropriate suspension set ups to make the car capable but useable as a daily driver.

My fellow JCW All4 F54 (2017) enthusiasts...one question from the Mulgari Project 013, I can't seem to find the Eibach Pro-springs for AWD so I assume the FWD works the same? Ben

I own project 013. You’ll need to speak directly to Mulgari. Eibach will tell you that the springs don’t fit but they will but need some custom work to do so.

Suppose you could always change it back at the end of its lease? 🤷🏼‍♀️ IDK. I think I might be putting up my 2022 Christmas list mighty early with an alcantara flat bottom steering wheel on it. That way my Santa will have time to save for one 😂

Hi Pete, how did the ride/compliance compare with Charlie’s standard set up? Where I live in the Fens the roads are often like rollercoasters. My JCW clubman (in BRG so it’s faster) has the 19s with non-run-flat Bridgestones, while the ride isn’t unbearable I would be very interested in making it less harsh. If this ends up costing me more money, it will, again, be your fault!

Hi I own the mulgari car. The ride is firm but compliant and definitely not harsh. The eibach pro and bilstein combination and Mulgari’s custom set up really suit the car. I had Bridgestone tyres on the car when I picked it up from the dealer and near enough straight away changed them for the Michelin Pilot sport 4S’s. So much quieter and a far better ride with added grip.

Red seat belts look good, but show the dirt too easily. Had some in a MG Metro years ago, they looked awful pretty quickly and I could never get them properly clean.

I found this with fairly bright red belts but I think those ones in the clubman being a darker shade of red should stand up a bit better :)

They look brighter in the film than they actually are. They match the dark red on the seat trim.
