I love ❤️ it! I'm going to try this for sure. Another plant that helps with arthritic joints is stinging nettle..really worked for me. Just rub it on. I am used to the tingling effects but one must go easy as some people may develop hives. I had a minor case..but husband pretty severe..even though he's used it before with no problem. So go easy.

Walking the dog this summer, I passed a beautiful mullein growing right along edge chanelink fence. Causing it to grow like an open hand fan. I remembered a little hippy girl, back in the year 1980, tell me by rubbing mullein blossom and crushed seed bracks on my warts and it would remedy their existance. So!! It works!! I had a pea sized wart on my knee. So everyday, if not evert other day I apply blossom and rub crushed seed bracks on the wart. Sometimes I would put bandaid over the mushed mullein poultice to stay on warr throughout the day. After a week wart started to diminish. Two months through this season the wart is completely gone. Compound W and cryotherapy never succeeded before with my lifelong affliction of the wart virus. THIS REALLY WORKED. Fortunate timing for me to have this plant on my path

FWIW, I make mullein tea in our espresso maker. I put a tea bag of some kind tea in the bottom of the little stainless steel coffee holder to filter out any of the fuzz on the leaves and then smash as much dried and crumbled mullein leaf as I can on top of the tea bag in the coffee holder. Then I run just few ounces of water through the espresso maker and then let the mullein steep for a bit, like at least 10 minutes. Then I run a full carafe of water through it to make a full big cup of tea, and I add a teaspoon of raw local honey to it. You can really feel the mullein tea after you drink it. It's a very slight but lovely euphoric feeling. But you really do have to make it like I've described to feel it, or drink about five or more cups of it if you're using tiny tea bags that hold just a teaspoon of tea in them, and that won't taste near as good. Now the most notable thing for both my wife and I about mullein tea is that you'll feel better for a long time after drinking just one big cup like I've described. I'm talking weeks or more. We'll go a month or more without having any and after that at some point we'll realize how much better we felt and make it again. We're pretty lucky to live in a rural area where mullein is abundant. We have 4 huge 1st year plants that sprung up in our garden right now.

I'm just learning about mullein which grows insanely and wildly through my property. I had read you could only use the leaves off plants that are in flower which seems silly. You seem trustworthy so I'm going to try going by your suggestions and only taking the smaller leaves for tea. So glad I've found your channel today. 😊🌱❤️

Since i have no mullein growing on my property, I always look for some mullein on my foraging walks. I bring it home, rinse the leaves and leave on my baking rack on the kitchen counter to air dry until crispy. Then I simply break up the leaves and store in a mason jar. I'll use a teaspoon in a large mug with boiling water when Im very congested. I do use a small mesh strainer to remove the leaves and hairs before drinking. I've never noticed any irritation from the tiny hairs, so I assume that's enough to remove then. Works great!

since i never get sick, i use Great Mullein (yes there are other kinds) as a skin tonic with an oil infusion. i work outside in my little orchard all day so to keep my skin from looking my age, i use the oil infusion on my skin after shower. i have used olive oil and sunflower oil before. this is why i don't look as old as i am 🙂 i grow them all over my orchard. they are highly beneficial plants. they improve soil, are favor of pollinators, spikes left over winter feed birds, they provide protection for many beneficial insects, and they inhibit weeds. and there are more medicinal uses for them as well. one of the best plants around 🙂

Mullein is my top medicinal herb. I let it self sow in my veggie garden for easy harvesting in the spring. It is exceptional as a decongestant. The tea is really tasty (my friends agree). I've never found it bitter. To me it tastes like green tea and honey. And definitely filter this tea through a paper filter. The fine hairs on it can irritate.

Think I've heard the roots can be used for eye wash for sore eyes or piles, makes a good toilet paper. Personally, when I was a kid, I'd hunt the dry mullen stalks, take the sharp edges off and use them as the sticks for my homemade newspaper kites. They were light and flexible enough to work pretty well.

Oh yes!! You can even just buy the seeds commercially as well! The best way to spot a stand of Mullein is to look for the stalks they will likely be pretty brown and dead looking at the moment but they are still quite easy to spot once you know where to look for.

Your charming. Unfortunately I never get sick. Should have in the pantry nonetheless, SOMEONE has got to get sick! Lol. Tea is a good idea, I need more tea and should get into beekeeping, honey with tea yum! An interesting experiment is drying mullein outside in the sun with a solar powered fan. The wind probably is a key factor in getting herbs to dry faster. Dehydration packets that change color are wonderful. Shelf life of herbs is related to dryness, so if you have a bottle of herbs and the enclosed silica packet is saturated and no longer absorbing moisture then your eating/ingesting product thats getting old and lost some of its potency. Tinctures in vodka are much better in that they never absorb moisture and lose efficacy, unlike a capsule in a bottle. Vodka (ideally organic) is an extremely important item in the pantry and useful in more ways than one. :)

I've searched all over the Internet for specifics about utilizing the ROOT from time of harvest, like the ancients would do. Drying?, do I grind it or mince?, can I add to a random meal preparation to avoid buying gel caps?, nothing to LEARN from. I found a company selling the Mullein capsules of powdered, but not specifying if it's from leaves, roots, combo, but it does mention mg dosage for their product. Not much to LEARN from though. Don't want to blindly just take stuff like this generation does, and FDA says NO to everything that doesn't have a patent. And sadly, I didn't know any 150yr old native Americans to ask either.

I will tell you how I process my echinachea root..it may work for mullien also. After washing..I simmer the cut pieces for 15 minutes. After cooling..put the liquid in small portions to freeze in freezer. I can pop these into a plastic bag and use individual portions as needed. Just warm it up and drink..apply to eye stye.. or wounds..works on poison ivy very nicely. American Indians also would chew pieces of the root. And apply compresses to wounds. I'm sure you can do this decoction with the mullien root also ❤😊

💖🪴💖I dug one up from the backyard of a subsidized housing establishment, asking permission of course, because it was there all alone in a patch of grass like a weed, and I I had the agreement. Unfortunately my scientific test of chilling it in the refrigerator for a whole day caused it to die. Yet they do that in florists with flowers. I loved touching its velvet leaves. A power of zenitude. I named him Hulk, inspired by the color and by Esau the vellu, brother of Jacob in the Bible. Yet it grew like a cabbage, with the crystal fertilizer! I would have kept it as a cabbage, not as a tropical plant one meter high! Unless you want to make a garden, in the corners here and there. An honorable burial in a box put in a trash bag for its way to landfills. I've had my lesson in caution. It was so fragile because it had VERY few roots. The earth dominated her more than she who dominated the Earth. Too much humidity = a smaller pot and soil germination on a daily basis. The numerous roots are too important.

“The large, less fluffy leaves are less useful medicinally” and “in the first year stage, take only about a third of the leaf matter…” ok, so I think I’ve had this plant for at least a couple years, growing wild out in my blueberry patch. I think I even mowed it down a couple times. This last week was the first time I’d ever heard of Mullein, and it just so happens I’ve been sick with something weird for about a month. A cough, plugged up ears… So I went out and picked a bunch of the biggest leaves, washed them off, spun them, and laid them out to dry. Then I found your video. Should I even bother using these big leaves? I don’t want to pick the rest of the plant now, as I’d like it to keep growing, but I’m fed up with doctor-prescribed remedies that have done nothing to help me, and I want to try some tea. Any advice?

So disrespectful! All living forms deserve respect. Plant and medicine require awareness, understanding, compassion and gratitude. It is, for indigenous cultures, very disrespectful to harvest the whole plant. They have life and cycles as we all do. Taking small sample after asking and offering thanks in some appropriate from is most appropriate . Giving thanks to the Source from which it came.

Girl bye. These are growing every 2 feet on my property it and yarrow are like half my ground cover lol. This was in my garden preventing cultivation for food crops. I live a stones throw from indigenous people and have benefited from guidance by indigenous people. Yes it is important to pay respect to what we receive but literally no one not even the indigenous people I know and love are being precious with medicinal plants growing in the middle of their tomato plant row when there are 46382910 of the plants growing 10' away. What would have been disrespectful would be to just rip it out and toss it in the burn pile. I harvested the whole plant here because it was either that or the rubbish heap. I also discuss mindful harvesting in this video. Did you even watch the whole thing or are you just a hater?
