Lol these white media outlets trying so convince black people that they're black. Now it's... multicultural, and yet it's just a bunch of black interracial couples 😂 It's amazing how important deconstructing black identity is to America

Well no, this is not a commentary on interracial couples. Its about INTER-CULTURAL couples. So both parents can be the same race (the two dads) but have different cultures.... I also think the captions that said "Jamaican and black," were referring to Jamaican and black AMERICAN culture, bc they are different. The caption wasn't dealing with race.
@IBBMS
@IBBMS 4 жыл бұрын
@@anonmon8550 That would make sense if for the other people they didn't already say "African-American" which is the culture you're talking about. "Black" is not "black AMERICAN culture." Black is a race.

I was looking for a comment to mention the kneeling in rice comment, didn't find one.Making your child kneel in rice is wrong inappropriate and is abuse. A child had to have pieces surgically removed from his knees after being forced to kneel for hours. Also the psychological impact on a child is not healthy. There are better ways to discipline your child. Just because your parents did it to you and you turned out okay, dosent make it right.

@SapphireSloane
@SapphireSloane 4 жыл бұрын
Nathan Glen Are you insinuating that black people don’t know how to parent? Also, why do black people or any person of color have to listen to white people in regards to parenting? Because they clearly don’t have all of the answers either. We can take care of the children in our own communities. We always have, without any useful help from the dominant culture in this country.
@SapphireSloane
@SapphireSloane 4 жыл бұрын
Nathan Glen Also, did you even watch the beginning of this video??? Sky wants her future children to love her culture (as she should), and IMMEDIATELY Drew sexualized Jamaican culture. Minimizing the culture to Dutty Wining and other similar dances. So, since he’s half Irish, should she be concerned about introducing their future children to Irish culture, since they’re stereotypically known for being brute alcoholics?
@SapphireSloane
@SapphireSloane 4 жыл бұрын
Nathan Glen First of all, it’s interesting to me how all of the sudden, this is scripted and I shouldn’t take it seriously. Second of all, my argument wasn’t weak. I said he was wrong and gave an example of how wrong he was. Drew based Jamaican culture off of one of the worst stereotypes, so I gave an example of how basing a culture off of stereotypes minimizes it, hence the perfect example of the Irish cultural stereotype that I provided. Or, did that go right over your head? I guess so. Also, to use YOUR words, there’s good and bad in every culture. And since that’s true, then why does he think it’s acceptable to exemplify the worse aspects of her culture? She didn’t do that to him. Also, there’s difference between judging someone’s character and discerning someone’s character. You can’t discern his character or the individual he’s portraying based on this content? How? If that’s the case, then I feel very bad for you. The worst people must enjoy being friends with you, because it seems to me like you’ll excuse inappropriate behavior time and time again. The wise Maya Angelou once said, “When people tell you who they are, believe them.” And people don’t have to directly tell me who they are, because I can always figure it out. I watch how people treat me and others, especially if they’ve done something to me that I don’t like, and they keep doing it, despite me telling them to stop doing it the first time. You can’t read at all, can you? And I’m not talking about books, sweetheart, I’m talking about the art of reading people. Watch the video again and read them. Even if the video is scripted and they’re actors, the personas they’re portraying are obviously based of an actual couple. Drew or whomever he is has a narrow view of black culture. He minimizes black culture to clothes, hair, and smooth talk. He watches black based films, listens to predominantly black musical genres, and he probably has a couple of black friends, so based those three factors, he thinks he’s got Black American and Black Caribbean culture down to a science. But, Black people are more than that. Black culture is so diverse. If he knew that, LIKE REALLY KNEW THAT, then he wouldn’t minimize her culture the way he did.

As a person with multicultural parents, one of my biggest things is to DEFINITELY make sure your child can speak both of your languages. Growing up in a white community my mum never saw the need to teach me Vietnamese and it is something that has inhibited me from really connecting to my Vietnamese culture. One of my greatest sadnesses is being unable to have a proper conversation with my grandparents simply because we can't understand each other. I think there is this fine line that biracial children sit on and it can be very hard to feel like you belong in either culture, so really embracing both sides fully will really help your children :)

Wait, I watched this whole thing just to see the negative stuff Drewski said about Black culture, since that’s what these comments are saying.. yet he said nothing... All he said is he didn’t want his daughter dutty wining, which a lot of people don’t want their young children dancing sexually. But I will say he needs to educate himself on how Black women are treated in health care by these so called “professionals” he admires so much. More Black women die during child birth than any other race soo desperately wanting her to give birth in a hospital not be the smartest decision.

Magnolia Lady black is a race Jamaican is a Nationality. You can be both black an Jamaican . You can also be white and Jamaican. Nationality is not racially exclusive. Afro Caribbean is an ethnicity which specifies that you are someone of African origin while also being of the Caribbean. Saying your Jamaican and black doesn’t make sense. You might as well just say I’m a black Jamaican or my mother is Afro-Jamaican and my father is African-American. Both show that you belong to the black race but specify that you are from mixed ethnicities. It’s not about denying blackness it’s about signifying that you belong to a different culture.

Coming from a Caribbean/Latino background, I actually support Drew’s view of getting a nanny. Boundaries do get crossed really easily when the in-laws are involved in raising the kids, specially if they go to the kid’s house instead of them going to grandma’s house. Yes, they can get more familiar with the culture and the language of origin (if it is different), but it’s get complicated. And I was raised by my grandma, my mom was divorced and had to work all day long.

I think those parents are missing on one major point: “Education consists of understanding the child as he is, without imposing on him the image of what we think he should be. " They are trying to push their own culture on their kids and their own views, instead of being open and trying to understand what their child will be interested in.

This is a good point. I guess because all of their children are either so young (less than 8 at the time of recording), about to be born, or are simply hypothetical, they may not be thinking about that aspect of nurturing their child's own self image. I guess they may be thinking about it as giving their child the tools of their cultural background in order for their child to make their own background. I think a good example of this is when one of the couple's stated that their son introduces himself by saying, "Hi my name is ___ and I am half Black and half Asian." They stated that sometimes they are a bit uncomfortable by that introduction because some people may not expect it, but they still let him introduce himself that way because he prefers to do that. I feel like that would be an example of their child building his own identity based on the perspectives he was given growing up.

The beautiful side of a mixed couple is our two boys are growing in two different cultures. We love to see how they interact with both cultures. It is enriching.

Myself & my bf are in a mixed race, and mixed religion relationship. I am coloured & he is Indian in race, we're both South African. And I'm Christian and he is Muslim. I'm so glad that we have spoken about future kids and have came to a common ground as to what we want for them. I really enjoyed watching this.

There is a difference between race and ethnicity. For example, I’m Black American and my boyfriend is Haitian American. He was born and raised in Haiti and his parents got citizenship and brought him to America when he was a kid. We are of the same race but have a different culture. We would be considered a multicultural couple. A black man or woman from the Caribbean have a different ethnicity but are the same RACE as me.
