We are in front of quarters of Volunteer Hose Company No. 2 of the West Haverstraw Volunteer Fire Department at 30 Railroad Avenue in West Haverstraw, New York, where we see a number of companies from multiple towns scream through town for a house fire down the street at 11 Tanneyanns Lane. The call turned out to be a fire in the attic of the house at that location. One line was stretched and in operation. There were no injuries, and loss of property seemed to be minimal, at least from the outside. Most companies took up within about 20 minutes, and some went on another call for an alarm activation. Here is a run-down of companies seen responding in this video; Engine 23-1500, Engine 23-1501, and 23- Rescue from Volunteer Hose Company No. 2, 23-Squad, and 23-Tower from S.W. Johnson Steam Fire Engine Company No. 1 in Garnerville, both of West Haverstraw Fire Department, and Squad 18-EQ from Stony Point Fire District. Engine 23-1500 is a 2012 KME Panther. Engine 23-1501 is a 2000 Sutphen Monarch. 23-Rescue is a 2021 KME Severe Service walk-in. 23-Squad is a 1999 Sutphen Monarch. 23-Tower is a 1988 Sutphen aerial with a 100 foot mid-mount bucket. Squad 18-EQ is a 2016 KME Predator XLFD. Enjoy the view of all of the responding rigs. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The videos were taken on December 26th, 2022.

I see the crown of the road and the concrete apron slope in front of the station causes a "dip&jump" effect when exiting the station. If apparatus come out too fast, they scrape the concrete. When spec'ing out new apparatus, request "angle of attack" on rear frame(s).

I enjoy watching these fire channels, walk arounds of rigs, responses, fire houses etc, but it seems that cities with 10K to 30K+ populations in the NE has volunteer departments, Is there a different tax structure in the NE, whereas the city I live in here in Oklahoma has a population of around 19K and has a full time department with 4 fire stations 2 ladder trucks, 1 water tower, 5 engines, 1 water tender, 3 brush trucks. Anyway, great looking rigs there, love the blue color ones.
@Stargazzer811
@Stargazzer811 Жыл бұрын
There are different tax structures everywhere, but often it has more to do with tradition. Take for instance Sayreville, New Jersey. Their department has 4 stations, 110 personnel, and a dozen apparatus; they are entirely volunteer, because its tradition. Now that doesn't mean of course that these companies let tradition blind them. If you think they aren't up to date on gear and training than you'd be fooling yourself.

The problem with volunteer firefighters is the timing it's hard to have a quick response! my dad was also a volunteer firefighter in the 60s and 70s in Europe. Still, today they have full-time firefighters and volunteers in the same station so they can respond right away while the others arrive later, making a vast difference between life and death situations!

@Stargazzer811

You realize a house was on fire, right? That was fairly safe driving and at most they were doing 45 or 50 in a 25 or 35. Around 10 over is acceptable, and generally speaking everyone should move the fuck out of the way for the big truck with all the lights and sirens on it, because that's the law. Tell your chief to cool himself down.
