never stick a plant directly into the bottle of rooting hormone, I was taught in horticulture school.

@@PlantHouseGarden It has potential to contaminate the whole bottle, if an unknown pathogen was present. Pour a little bit on a piece of paper you can curl into a cup in your palm is how I do it. There are other ways. Great video. I like that plant a lot. Thanks for posting this.

Thanks for the video. I’ve just rescued a birkin that was actually 4 tightly packed plants in one pot. Now that I’ve divided them I’d like to prune them so they are less tall and can form a more bushy shape. Is it ok to prune? Thanks!
@PlantHouseGarden
@PlantHouseGarden 4 ай бұрын
It is okay to prune, but I would suggest waiting for a while if you recently made the division. Let them adapt first, then prune. It might be too much stress to do all at once. I hope this helps. 🙏❤️ Thank you!

Thank you. I have a philodendron Birkin and it has spilt and started to droop. This is exactly what I was looking for. Is there any way to make the plant develop the striped leaves? A lot of mine are just full green.
@PlantHouseGarden
@PlantHouseGarden 3 ай бұрын
Yes, this way is the best solution for that. Try to give more light and it should start growing new leaves with more white variegation.🙏💚

Thank you for making this video. Very helpful. I'm wondering, what is the benefit of leca when propagating in water? I normally just use water but would like to try leca
@PlantHouseGarden
@PlantHouseGarden 9 ай бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! I'm delighted to hear that you found the video helpful. When it comes to propagating in LECA (Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate), it offers several benefits. LECA provides stability for the cutting, prevents rot by allowing better airflow, and supports root development. It also helps in maintaining moisture levels without waterlogging. While using LECA is beneficial, propagating in water is always a good option as well. Give it a try, and feel free to share your experience or ask any more questions. Happy growing! 🍃🤍🙏

Mine almost gone.only roots I ve in the cocopeat. How to get those into live? I trying hard to survive them
@PlantHouseGarden
@PlantHouseGarden Жыл бұрын
I’m sorry for your birkin; try to place them in a plastic transparent container with lid to keep the environment moist, plant them there and place the container to a light spot but avoid direct sunlight. Without seeing the roots I can’t tell you much, just don’t give up they need time to start growing leaves. And what happened? There were only roots or it was a plant?
@gracious9775

@@PlantHouseGarden my sister gifted me two birkins in a white plastic pot at the size of 6 inch pot. It was a good plant at first. It was growing well but the temperature was too high at my place so it cldnt tolerate the humidity. The leaves got shredding nd becoming yellow. The baby leaves also fell down without opening. Now I ve only only roots under the cocopeat. Still having faith so I dint dismantle it.

@@gracious9775 yellow leaves and dropping new leaves could be root rot from too much water or very dried roots. Check the moisture of the soil to see if it’s dry or wet, also try to place them in cooler place. Water them when the first 2 inches of the soil are dry and remove the excess water from the bottom. They are very resistant plants it might survive. Wish you luck, and let me know 🤗🍃

What does the node look like? It does not seem obvious like on a lot of other plants
@PlantHouseGarden
@PlantHouseGarden 11 ай бұрын
The node of a Philodendron Birkin typically appears as a swollen, joint-like section on the stem, where leaves emerge. It is often cream or white in color, creating a striking contrast with the green leaves. It looks like the nodes of pothos plants. 🍃🤍

how is tissue culture done on this plant please !
@PlantHouseGarden
@PlantHouseGarden 10 ай бұрын
Tissue culture for birkin plants starts by taking tiny tissue samples, typically from the stem. These samples are then carefully placed in a sterile environment, where they receive the precise nutrients and hormones they need.
