This is my video series about Multivariable Calculus also known as Analysis with more variables or in higher dimensions. I hope that it will help everyone who wants to learn about it. We discuss partial derivatives, the nabla operator, gradient, Jacobians, Hessian, and so on. For any questions, please leave a comment or come to the community forum of the Bright Side of Mathematics: tbsom.de/s/community

Here we talk about the total derivative and the notion totally differentiable.
(This explanation fits to lectures for students in their first year of study: Mathematics for physicists, Mathematics for the natural science, Mathematics for engineers and so on)
The Bright Side of Mathematics has whole video courses about different topics and you can find them here tbsom.de/s/start

Thanks for the great video! I hear people refer to df_x sometimes as an exact differential. Would you have any comment on this?

Why we can't just take the usual definition, f'(x) = lim h->0 f(x+h)-f(x) / h ?

@@brightsideofmaths Is the problem that we have multiple directions for the vector h and each differential could be different? That would be the idea of the directional derivative, right?
@brightsideofmaths
@brightsideofmaths Жыл бұрын
@@nayjer2576 Yes, the total derivative has to cover all directions.
