Panipuri also called golgappa, is a street snack in several regions of India. It consists of a round, hollow puri, fried crisp and filled with a mixture of flavored water (pani), tamarind chutney, chili, chaat masala, potato, onion and chickpeas. Panipuri is a famous street snack in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal.
Panipuri has various names, depending on the region. In New Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Jharkhand, and Bihar, it is called “gol gappa”; in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, “pani ke bataashe“; in Goa, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu, “panipuri”; in West Bengal, “puchka”; in Chhattisgarh and Odisha, “gup chup”; in Gujarat, “pakodi”; and in Madhya Pradesh, “Phulki”. In Bangladesh, it is known as “Puchka” and in Pakistan it is called “Gol Gappa“.
Dahi Puri Chaat is yet another member of popular Indian street chaats that is made by stuffing crispy puffed puris with boiled potatoes and topping it with combination of sweet, sour and spicy chutneys, onion, sev and beaten curd (dahi) giving it a perfectly balanced tongue tickling taste. It is perfectly suited as a party-snack as it can be easily prepared in large quantities, ingredients can be prepared in advance, just needs assembling at the time of serving and guests can customize it to their taste.
