When this song came out, I was 17 years old, had a fantastic girlfriend and my entire family was healthy and alive. Rather than be sad that it is 50 years down the road, I honor their memory and remember how lucky I was to have experienced such a great time in my life.

I got married 1st August 1970 in Rhodesia and this was played at our reception. They don't make great songs anymore like they did in the 50's, 60's and 70's! Happy days and brilliant memories...🙂🙋♀️🇬🇧

I absolutely loved mungo Jerry such a great unique sound in the 70’s I remember going to his concert in Blackpool and really enjoyed it, I remember asking my girlfriend to marry me on the back seat of the coach 😂 and we’re still together in 2024 👍🏻❤️ nice memories 🤘🏼

I spent the first 6 summers of my life at the Jersey shore. Pop owned his own business and we'd rent a house for 5 or 6 weeks. I heard this song and just fell in love with it. My mom found the 45 to record and I just about wore it out listening. Brings back so many good memories of that early time in my life.

It's incredible to think I heard this when it came out. I'm just loving reading the comments and feeling connected to people round the world I don't know except for one thing: we share a love of this song. @@fannin313 Perhaps you are mistaken. the song is not naughty. Rich girls expect high treatment and even after that will cross their legs. I know that is a crude explanation. So, poor girls will definitely go out on a date with welfare bums like me. And I will ply them with flattery, good food, and fine wine (until my credit card maxes!) and so on but they can at the end of the night go home by themselves. Sometimes they call back. I don't know but there are so many weird guys out there which makes it difficult for guys like me who are not abnormal.

When this song first came out, it sounded like an 'oldie' from maybe the 1920s or 1930s. Discovering that it was a new song in 1970 really makes you wonder - what were the influences? The phrasing, the style of singing the lyrics, the aimless nature of the story being told, was NOTHING like the music in the 1970s - Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Clapton, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, etc. You heard this song on the radio, "that's an 'oldie' tune from the 1920s or 1930s" - it was nothing like the current popular music. It's a great tune but has a life of its own. It has a happy, aimless vibe to it
