Many people don't associate Munich as a tourist city, and that's a big mistake! It is a truly impressive city with many interesting buildings, parks and museums. It's certainly one of the nicest cities I've ever seen.
Munich is a modern city of culture and art, with world-class museums, many attractions and monuments reminding us of the rich heritage of the Wittelsbach family ruling in Bavaria.

1. Munich is the third most populous city in Germany. The city exceeded the number of one million inhabitants in 1957.
2. The first people lived in Munich between the 7th and 6th centuries BC.
3. The official date of the city's foundation is June 14, 1158.
4. It became the capital of Bavaria in 1806.
5. Munich is the economic center of southern Germany.
6. BMW comes from Munich. It was established in 1916 by the merger of three companies producing aircraft engines.
