These old, traditional homes are works of art! I find it ironic that Japan today, people would say a small 1LDK is "spacious", however the traditional homes were SPACIOUS! There were specialty rooms for everything! Your special "writing room", "tea room", Bon room, etc. Sometimes I question our idea of evolution.

What a gorgeous, serene place. So peaceful. Makes you wonder how they ever got anything done!

@vidaripollen Will do. I have a back log of videos to post but as soon as I am done I will do more architecture ones. I am going to Gunma in a few weeks to one of Japans most famous hot spring resorts. Bound to be lots of great houses. I will get some footage for you. Glad you enjoyed it.

You have a very soothing presence that is well suited for travel documentaries. Your commentary manages to walk that fine line of informative but, simultaneously, slightly humorous: in short, the quintessential British host. I loved the way that you could hear your footsteps and the wind and a dog barking in the background. This whole video felt like a postcard from Japan. I would love to see you try a video on a busy street or marketplace. Good luck on any future endeavours!!!:)

Wow, everything looks so simple yet so complicated at the same time. I can't figure out the complete shape of the house. I wonder if the designer did it at once or the home owner built it partially piece by piece. All my dream to have such like a hand crafted japanese home.

@vidaripollen Yes you are quite right. I had just got the camera and was trying to get the entire tour in HD on a small sd card. I will go back and do a better video soon.

@GimmeKitty No they do not. Least of all in Tokyo. I could rent a place twice the size and half the price of my current home if I was not in the centre of Tokyo. The whole rent system is pretty weird. It basically takes five or six months rent just to get into a new place with two months rent being a gift ( key money ) to your landlord ; (

Too much hand shaking and swinging the camera back-and-forth too rapidly. Everything is a blur. It is a pity because the house and garden are special.
