Father's Day, 2011. El Rancho, New Mexico.
A frantic 911 call is made to police. Lloyd, Dixie and Steven Ortiz have been found dead in their home. As the years passed, many feared the case would go totally cold.
But, one call would come in to police, that would change everything...

25 years for murdering 3 people in a massively brutal fashion after they took you in, fed you and cared for you? Two things: 1) No bail should've EVER been given to this guy!! 2) Such a disrespectful slap in the face to the ones that died as well as the family!!

It's ABSULUTLY sickening and not justice at all .I wish I could say this is usual but it's not .I see some get way more for a crime as horrible as this and I see some get even less than 25 years ,it's horrible and Our so called justice system is very very broken .Many evil people had already committed awful crimes and were out of prison earlier than the sentence they had gotten after those crimes and many go on to commit more evil crimes ,just disgusting .

25 years means 8 and a third years for each brutal homicide, and all he'll have to serve is 85% of that time. So the punishment for each horrific homicide was a little more than 7 years. The judge was so very wrong to have those sentences run concurrently instead of consecutively. What a travesty of justice. I am absolutely disgusted.

Horrific pain and suffering this trio endured having been killed by a pickaxe, not to mention over money and a weed plant. My jaw dropped when you mentioned he was offered 100k bond, of which he would obviously only have to come up w/ten percent, but then when you mentioned the verdict, and the judge running the sentences concurrently, I was seething with disappointment and frustration. Such a lovely, hardworking, family-oriented couple and the son they raised to his fullest potential gone over such a senseless crime; and the heartbreak it has caused this family, who were only trying to help that POS out in the first place. No justice, really, at all. Anyhow, thanks for the upload & hope you have a great week, sisters!

Remember Carla Faye Tucker? That thing wielded a pick axe and murdered two innocent people during a burglary, then tried using the excuse it was abused as a child and high on drugs during the murders for which it even bragged about having had an orgasm while committing the murders, but you don't mess with Texas and the creature was given the death penalty and executed in 1998.

Three really good people were murdered by a complete brute yet he only receives less than 25yrs? That is just unbelievable when you consider the manner of their deaths and the coolness of the perpetrator afterward. That judge needs his head examined. On another more upbeat note, I love this channel and the narrator is brilliant. Please keep the videos coming. Thank you.

How is this not capital murder, murder in the pursuit of a felony - burglary. I'm not for the death penalty, especially for a minor, but 25 years is an utter insult to the family and society in general.

He planned to rob and murder 3 people and only got 25 years??? the girl who drove him got 20 and will serve 14 for something way less serious than the murder of 3 people. it doesn't even make sense they would consider this justice because it isn't. Saying a prayer for his daughter I can't imagine the pain and anger they feel over this.

this reminded me of another crime where this elderly couple took in that weird girl.. and her and an accomplice robbed them and buried them alive as the couple had their arms around each other....and they looked after the witch like their own daughter...sick world we live in...its infuriating and reminds me why i stopped taking in people and helping them out

How is concurrently running sentences for preplanned murder even an option??? And its even more insane that for multiple savage preplanned murders by hand (not even at a distance with a gun) the judge was able and chose to set concurrent sentences. The judge is judge saying the victims lives are worthh next to nothing.

Yeah, sounds about right, this is what you get for helping strangers and bringing them into your house, and people question why most Europeans are cold and distance, this poor family dedicated their lives to helping the community and this is how the justice system rewards them, what a cruel lesson to learn,
