Louise Jameson took Boucher's thin outline of the Leela character and truly made it her own --nuanced and multi-layered. And she is STILL doing so this many years later for Big Finish. Wonderful actor.

Classic Who doing what Classic Who did best, gothic horror and classic mystery tropes. This story is very reminiscent of Agatha Christie murder mysteries.

No lie, my favorite Dr. Who episode. Sublime. And the design work was so classic. Amazing they could execute it on the slim budgets. So many of the eps of that era you'd have to suspend belief but these robots are iconic. On the one hand I'm sorry they've never been revisited in live-action, but I'd fear them being ruined too.

Well the robots from the special with Kylie Minogue in it were based on these robots. But yeh these ones look way better and would love to see them again.

@@TheAllSeeingEye2468 They may own the copyright to those designs, I don't know. Many of Doctor Who's iconic characters, creatures and aliens are controlled, at least in part, by outside entities. The list includes both the robotic dog K9 and even The Daleks themselves.

This Doctor Who story is so perfectly cast that every scene is re-watchable and compelling. The scene here of the Sandminer crew discussing who the murderer could be, is a case in point. Even Zilda (aside from her hysterical and tearful Uvanov accusations) holds her own. Pamela Salem and David Collings are always superb and Russell Hunter is fantastic as Uvanov.

Although this episode aired a few years earlier than their album and tour, I have always thought that these robots were the inspiration for the robot design that was used in the mini-movie/concert for Styx's "Kilroy Was Here" tour, and the video for their song "Mr. Roboto".

i love the voc robots. they are my no.1 pick to return, we need more robot villains and these could do wonders. i actually wrote my own story for a voc return, to sum up how i think they could come back is that in robots of death taren capel made voc robots killers, what if that order got out to other robots on kaldor? they would continue to murder with nobody to tell them to stop
