Let me play devils advocate here… what if he was truly innocent. Would you want your loved one to be held for possibly 3,4,5 years or any length of time for that matter until they could have their day in court and prove innocence? What about people who can’t even afford the bond and loose everything by waiting in jail for that day in court.

Back in the 1990s...if you had serious charges against you, no bail or six figures would get you out, few folks had 6 figures so they typically sat until trail, we used to sit for years waiting to go to trail sometimes.

thats not unusual. "reasonable bond" is a constitutional right. very few people recieve no bond at all

Accused murderers often post bail, such as Derek Michael Chauvin after he killed George Floyd. What you're missing here is that someone posted bail, which is usually pretty hefty for murder. What that means is that someone may have lost their house when they put up the house as collateral for the bail. Serves them right.
