Damn man, just the fact you can easily take a little tent and still have space for bags on the back, this is just my dreambike. It stays relatively light-weight so it's just perfect.

You should be a DRZ outfitter and sell them through a company with that set up. I would buy one. Nice job.

That's one kitted out DRZ! The lynx fairing has me drooling. You must have put a couple thousand bucks into that DRZ, what a great adventure warrior. What an iron horse. Won't let you down.

Every time I watch a review for these smaller ADV builds, I wonder what exactly is the objective when people choose the big stuff like the 1290s, 1260s and 1250s etc. That 400 looks plenty big enough for any tallish fellah but it's gotta be easier to service, to fix and to pick up after a fall (especially if you're alone) than any of the ADV behemoths. Even the 600cc+ options look questionable next to this supremely kitted out DRZ. Highlights for me: novel use of airbox; tent pole tube; Lynx fairing system.

Highway comfort I would think; power in upper rev range, more stable in wind, and just more stable in general on the highway. Also electrical power considerations. Heated grips + GPS + phone is just about all you are going to get from what I've learned. If you heavily micromanage the on-off switches you may be able to get a heated vest. Luggage; if you travel like a rich girl on the titanic, the DRZ is not going to cut it. Mileage; 30 - 50k until a top end rebuild on the DRZ. I'm pretty sure big adventure bikes go the distance. In contrast to your view on the matter, I see no reason to want to subject yourself to heavy highway miles on the DRZ if you only go on a nice dirt road here and there. If you love getting lost in the middle of the boonies, it's a great choice.

Expensive DRZ. I thought I was piling money on mine. Very nice, some good ideas. They really are such great bikes. If only they had designed them with a 6th gear and slightly different ratios they would be beyond the legend they are now.

Hi there, I have the 17L safari tank also and am curious where you bought the support bracket. Did you purchase it or knock it up yourself? I have definitely noticed some rub marks from the Rad guards (Also B&B) and would love to have a bit more confidence in the stability of the tank. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Nick

Clean and oil a k&n air filter. Or just clean, then hold it up to the sunlight... Not made for the dirt at all. Wouldnt even run one on my car. Seen dust in the intake boot post filter on mates dr650's that had them until i pointed out the obvious.

Gearing fix : ACT gear set gives you same first gear as 14/47 and fifth same as 15/44. 17L isn't enough for some outback tracks. The 28L is better in that you can run it full if needed, but 2/3 if not .

Is this a Safari 28L tank, and what is your experience of it especially how much fuel is left unavailbe in those wings?
@FraserSteve
@FraserSteve 3 жыл бұрын
This is the 17l safari tank which actually holds closer to 20l - it is good for about 400kms. Once it runs out on reserve if you lay it on it’s side to swap the remaining fuel over, the rest of the fuel that is remaining in the right side wing is good for another 40kms.

Any modifications to the suspension?
@murrayhynes4110
@murrayhynes4110 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ronan, shock was revalved and thicker oil in the forks, not a race bike so not going over the top with $ spent. Suspension is an area you could spend endless money on and the DRZ although a great adventure bike is limited in it's initial design. It does what it was intended to do with ease, but obviously has its limits.

why not just carry 1 x front sprocket instead of a rear - example i run 16/45 on my 950SE for dirt/road if i were to carry a spare for gearing be a 17T or 15T 1T front = 3T + or - on rear
@jajahgadis
