Wow! 🥹😢This will be so powerfully emotional! Shame on the NZ Government, what they did to the Tuhoe people. Grateful this story has been told on the big screen! To forever remind the world of the atrocious and despicable behaviour of the NZ Government of the time! Shame shame shame.

Might I remind you it was a labour govt at the time. Leftists are snakes. They act like your friend then stab you in the back. Like the Democrats in America acting like the inclusive party when their policies hurt people of color the most. The Republican party freed the slaves in Abraham Lincoln times. Never trust leftists. Including today's horse face comrade who's economic policy will do more to hurt Maori than some token Matariki holiday for PR purposes. Matariki holiday is about the only thing good this government has done

The movie is not factual. It even says this at the beginning of the movie. Nobody died in real life. Several were killed in the movie. This movie was not based around facts.

Powerful trailer for what is a powerful film...this is like something from 1907 not 2007 ...it just shows that the attitudes in the establishment have not changed in 100 years...quite unbelievable that those in power have not been held to account, apologies in hindsight are worthless...RK

What you on bout? Helen Clarke wasn't in power when Tuhoe got Acknowledge from the Crown.... The Crown had already unreservedly apologised for not honouring its obligations to Tuhoe under the treaty Tamaiti said it himself and he's happy with the results

@@josephl9619 who's fiction? Tamaiti's fiction and the people of Tuhoe? Please! He and Tuhoe assisted throughout the lead-up and the filming of this movie. Some would even say this is the POV of Tuhoe, given that the NZ govt and their ATSF gave their POV during the trial.

@@narafan1235 this is the problem with this movie. the filmmakers wrote the screenplay based on historical events and it didnt work so they changed it, to increase the suspense and called it a reaction to historical events. But people will think it happened this way. And it didnt. I grew up with a fictional white mans version of history and that has been rightly challenged. There are people now who are trying to replace it with a fictional maori version of history. This should also be challenged.

Found this today on DVD for 50 cents at an Op Shop....Bought it. Just watched trailer. Looks great. Can't wait to watch the film. I'm Aussie and love seeing New Zealand actor Cliff Curtis in films.

I can see if you the member of a colonised or conquered people, history might be a bitter pill to swallow but the fact remains that larger tribes were warring, subjugating and enslaving neighbouring tribes long before the Pakeha arrived and if they could have stopped fighting among themselves for 5 min they could have driven the white man into the sea, but they didn’t so here we all are

The movie was completely fictional. It even states this at the beginning of the movie. Nobody actually died during ghe raid yet the movie has several people dying. I found it amusing and a little tragic that they couldn't make the movie around the facts and had to add a whole heap of rubbish to make it dramatic.

There's so much more to add to this movie. The government was scared of normal native living. There should have been more blood added in this movie. The movie was rubbish. Seriously if you are going to make a movie at least make it factual. Nobody in real life died and nobody was pushed out of a helicopter. It's embarrassing that they made this and some people actually believe what this movie shows is fact when it isn't.
