Musa Xulu pays tribute to Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi

The Presidency has announced the passing of AmaZulu traditional prime minister Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi. The 95-year-old was recently discharged from hospital, where he had spent weeks. Heritage, cultural history and traditional knowledge expert from Indonsa YeSizwe Think Tank Professor Musa Xulu described Buthelezi as a man of great stature.

His passing is a very sad day for South Africa, but for many reasons. Because we was an exceptional leader. A man of great reasoning and wisdom, great maturity and resolve. A man with class but humble. And, because South Africa no longer has leaders of his caliber to replace him. Plastic politicians made in China. Below them he now lies still, but above him, they vanish in his shadow. RIP Prince Buthulezi. You were worth it.

As a young south african I'll remember him as the man who stoop for honesty in the Zulu monarch, repeatedly saying "inkosi ayikhethwa iyazalwa"
