In July 2017, broadcaster, author and founder of Stony Plain Records, Holger Petersen was invited to the WC Handy festival in Florence, Alabama to do a book signing for his "Talking Music 2: Blues and Roots Music Mavericks" book and to interview members of the Muscle Shoals music community.
In Episode Two, Holger spends time with Mississippi native Travis Wammack. Travis was twelve years old when he first hit the American Charts with the instrumental “Scratchy.” He spent the sixties as a session musician at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. He was Little Richard’s band leader from 1985 to 1995. In this freewheeling interview, Holger talks to Travis about his solid guitar work with some of the greatest musicians of our era, his time with Rock and Roll legend Little Richard and and Travis' penchant for rattlesnakes.
Thanks to the Florida-Lauderdale Tourism and Visitor Center, the Marriott Shoals Hotel and Spa, the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, and Nutthouse Recording Studio. Special thanks to Andreas Werner for making this happen and to Natalie Jewell for her assistance.
