Don't forget the polyrythms during the solo aswell on the crash cymbal ;) But i find that most bands that use different time signatures are more progressive and it isn't just too predictable. Also, the song doesn't just remain in Eb Minor for the whole thing.

***** Well actually, minor key signatures are a lot easier on guitar than major key signatures. All of the notes mostly line up on top of each other on the fretboard, so the fact that there are so many sharps/flats doesn't make a difference in difficulty.

I thought Uprising was recorded using a Strat as well as a Les Paul. I can't remember exactly, but I know he used a different guitar from the verses and chorus for the solo.

this is on 5/4 with a polyrithm at the end 4/4(drums) & 5/4(guitar and bass) but it is not muse's first use of 5/4; agitated outro is also on 5/4 but the time signature is not sign of effor on something (to my opinion) the effort is in every thing you dont hear the first time you listen to the song like those corous and the guitar and piano arrangements srry for my english

Now I see why you insist on the 8ths and I on the 4ths! Classically trained vs modernly trained. I would agree that with classical composers you would be absolutely right; however in jazz/pop we would take 4ths if there's no reason for 8ths. If at one point you were to go to 7/8ths it would be written down that way (preferring that in pop music), but it only goes only to 6/4 (from the 4ths perspective). Also, in pop it's preferred to write 10 8ths instead of 10 16ths, at faster BPM. =)

Well, normally he uses custom guitars built by Manson. I remember seeing an interview where he talked about using them because he feels less original playing a guitar another artist is known for. "The ghosts of the previous artists come through," as he put it. He said that whenever he picks up a Strat, he starts trying to sound like Hendrix. So why use one here, when he plays this live with a Manson?
