“‘Kill Or Be Killed’ is Muse at their heaviest! We wanted to update our hard rock sound on this album and with KOBK we found a modern metal sound featuring double bass drum action and even a death growl. Lyrically the song takes influence from my favourite Paul McCartney song “Live and Let Die”, a dark take on how life’s adversity can sometimes bring out the worst human instincts to survival at any costs.” - Matt

“KILL OR BE KILLED” Cornered, I’m exhausted with fear Our love and compassion dissolved And demons, have materialised in me Can’t fight them, they’re taking control And we’ve tried, oh we’ve tried so hard to be good But the world rewards us when we’re bad Fate, is driving me insane It’s forcing me to face I must kill or be killed Kill or be killed They’ve driven a stake right through my heart I’m growing so cold and detached And I’ve tried, oh I’ve tried so hard to spread love But she prefers it when I assert control Fate has brought us here to face Our hopes and dreams erased Either kill or be killed Yah, Yah Yah Yah, Yah Yahweh Yah Yahweh Yah Yah Yah Yah Yah Yah Ah Eh Yah Yah Yah Yah Yah Kill or be killed War Kill or be killed Yaaahhh Yah Yah Yah Yah Yah Yah Either kill or be killed Fate, is driving me insane It’s forcing me to face I must kill or be killed Kill or be killed Kill or be killed Kill or be killed Kill or be killed Kill or be killed

@@kirizute I won't spend much time complaining about my faves after my most fave musician died years ago. It's really devastating even to date because he had to deal with health problem and mass bullying for years and years. The later led to his death as a broken soul. He also didn't release many albums. It took him around 4-6 years to release one. So I feel lucky Muse have released 9 albums so far. They have their ups and downs just like other human being but seeing them still making whatever music they want with original line up, healthy and enjoy performing live, anything else is not worth to be complained about. Not all bands/solo artists on this planet could survive this long like them.

bless you buddy.. I used to dislike some of their albums too and wish they make music like their old songs. and then I came across a comment that has similar connotation to yours. since then I changed my mind. the fact that muse has been together more than 20 years and also actively make music, we should appreciate them at this point. I had similar experience to yours when my fave disband, members left etc. all I want is new music but that didn't happen often 😢

- The Handler for the intro - Hyper Music for the main riff - Reapers (the scream on "kill or be killed lyrics reminds me a lot of "Here come the drones" lyrics) - Map Of The Problematique / Resistance on the pre-chorus (drums, background atmosphere) - Blockades for the chorus (vocals) - Mercy / Stockholm Syndrome (synth) - Break It To Me (phrygian rythm before the solo) - Psycho for the break ( it's remind me the loud guitar) - New Born (solo) Yeah, probably the best Muse song.

I was a huge Muse fan in 00's as a teen, then somehow I forgot about their music for years I really have no idea why! And then this year randomly I thought about my favourite Muse's songs and get lost in their music once again. It feels like coming back home to a good ol' friend. Good to be back musers! I love the new album.

Ive been on youtube for years and never commented on anything. Muse were my first obsession, they were my first ever gig, when i was 10 at a bar in wolverhampton just before showbiz was released. From then on i was obsessed, muse were the band that got me through family suicides, social isolation and everything else that came with growing up. I was an obsessive, when they hit it big it felt like a part of me was there with them, i couldnt have been prouder of matt, dom and chris (i even tried to fake back stage passes to their earls cort show when i was 14, but lost my nerve to use them!). In time i fell away from them. But this track has just ignited something. Its hit a nerve and im officially back on the wagon. I feel 17 again. Thank you.

My grandma and I were very close growing up, she and my poppa were like a second parents to me growing up, and she got all of my family into muse years ago and we’ve been hooked since. We would try to go to as many of muse’s concerts as we could, simulation theory was the last one we all made it too last year, before she passed very suddenly, and idk why, but I haven’t been able to cry since or really deal with it properly. This is the first muse song I’ve been able to listen since, and I can’t stop crying since, and I just wanna say thank you so much, for being able to give me this catharsis, I miss her so much ❤️, I know the odds of this really being seen by anyone are slim but, I Just feel like I need to leave this here regardless

As a classical music lover and fan of muse, I found a cool thing about this song. The second theme in the first movement of Tchaikovsky's symphony number 5 and the chorus of KOBK are sounds similar, more specifically that cool chord progression are very similar. Imagine Muse is a person, an unemployed one, seeking for a job, and this song is their resume.
