The story that develops through OoS is simply scary. But beautifully written. I'm currently doing my final thesis on Muse and to those who do not see the story just yet, the album is about development and adaption to a whole new world. New Born = The immediate joy/rapture due to their success. Citizen Erased = The aftermath, the consequences and the pain following being within a new world where you do not fit. Megalomania (Feel Good as well) = Facing the environment in which you do not fit and force it to adapt your ways as you've been forced to follow it's.

@@user-or8ws4zl3r I read somewhere that Matt had to change the lyrics a couple times so a priest would allow him to record the song in a church lol

Agree with you but they’ve been around since about 97. If you haven’t listened to Showbiz, their first album, it’s really good.

I relate Muse to The Beatles in the way of how they can have so many different varied styles in their music... unlike most artists that all of their songs sound almost the same as to "the one song" that made it big..

The Beatles are meh compared to Muse

The Beatles only lasted 2 or 3 years before they broke up. Muse is still the same 3 guys making fantastic music in 2024! They have been friends since they were 13 or 14 yrs old. Pretty incredible.

c'mon matt - get yourself on broadway! i can all but visualize him belting out some emotional song from a dark and dramatic set - rivaling that of the phantom or a performance of freddie mercury

Can someone tell me the meaning of this song please? I've loved Muse since guitar hero, not gonna lie. But sometimes you find the greatest things in the most unusual places.

I might not be right, but having read other people's views too I think that Matt as an atheist questions the nature of god here. When he says "Paradise comes at a price that I'm not prepared to pay" he means that he is not capable of commiting to a religion, he's not willing to believe in something fake just for the hope of an afterlife in paradise. Also the lyrics "Take off your disguise, I know that underneath is me" he probably refers to the fact that the concept of god is a human creation, that behind the disguise of god it's we humans. Also makes references about maybe rape and suicide and generally bad things in the world which indicate that god doesn't exist.

Just wish muse had continued in this vein... I like black holes but origin and absolution were far superior and this is one of the most thought provoking songs they've done, along with ruled by secrecy. Shame, muse wasted their potential
@debasegrog51536 жыл бұрын
James Bailey as amazing as this style is, a band can not have the same style for all of their carreer, it would eventually be boring at some point. And black holes has also amazing songs like Take a bow, city of delusion, hoodoo, map of the problematique o assassin
