Okay I watched the episode. I won't go into things that are different or missing context from the Light Novel to much on this one. This section of the Light Novel is very dense and includes a lot of like inner dialogue and the anime struggles to adapt it well. There is a lot of minor things missing from this episode. Also things omitted from the past that make this episode fall flat to what it should have been. Others may flush out some of this if your interested but it's not super important stuff. But the panties in a bag plot line was setup a long time ago. There is more to it. It's hilarious actually. They think Rudy worships all panties. Remember Rudy showed them Roxy's Panties in an alter. Even more to it than that. Linia and Persuna or whatever their names are they believe they may have targeted Rudy's sister by accident making her give up her panties. But once Rudy describes his sister to them they are relieved they never went after girls that young I don't think. So yes some small things omitted, changed, shuffled around. But the overall episode did good. This needed to be like 1.5 episodes long. And it's a shame some context from last core was removed that nurfed this episode.

I guess it’s hard for me to separate what I already know from reading the LN vs how it’s adapted in each episode, but I thought they did a better job than you’re giving it credit for. This and next episode in particular I have been really looks forward to and I though they did great with this episode. Sure the LN context missing always enhances everything that’s happening in the show, but I feel it’s nearly impossible to adapt all of it into an anime without it feeling for too long and dragged out by tons of exposition. Most of the time as a viewer, the show provides plenty for us to piece things together on our own rather than outright explain everything like the books do. I have high expectations for next episode.

@@BuddyChy I don't disagree. I still thought the episode was good. Quite good actually. Most of what was missing is not important to the core story or even this core of the anime. But it's hard to put it all into words. Sometimes you only need like an extra 1-2 minutes worth of dialogue to enhance the overall story. I hate when You tubers hint at something coming up even without context. As it's still a form of spoilers. So I kind of don't want anyone who cares about that to read this. But yes there is a moment in the Light Novel that I don't think is that amazing to most readers? Maybe I'm wrong. But it's in my top 10 favourite chapters or moments of the entire series. The light novel brought me to tears, the manga ironically brought me to tears. I was impressed at how well it did. I used to hate the manga. I'm sure the anime will bring me to tears well but I can't help but feel that it's riding the memories and knewledge from the Light Novel in my head. I don't know if I will understand the full scope of what was going on in the characters mind in the anime version. We will soon find out.

@@MrArrmageddon can you give me a hint at what moment you’re talking about? What episode will it likely be in? Also, fwiw, I was anime only until a few episodes into season 2. I picked up the Light Novel from the last few chapters of volume 7 and onwards which begins when he meets Elinalise and travels to the school. After I caught up to volume 24, I went back and started reading from the beginning to read the first 7 volumes. I’m still only in the middle of volume 2, but I’m aware of most of the context I missed having only watched the anime of the first season. But I wasn’t aware as I was reading volumes 8 through 24. I still loved season 1 even without all of the missing context and sections that were cut.

And i find funny, that they did not show Rudy talking about the hitogami, i mean it is kinda of a side thing to this moment, but it kinda helped build the tension.

Something to think about here is that in mushoku tensei's "middle age" setting, most people don't go to school. At most they get basic education and then they are expected to get jobs/get married etc. Aisha already got her basic education, her mother was a maid and that's what she learned as a job. In this setting her choice is like finishing university vs dropping out and getting a job. What she is doing is not really different than Sylphie or Rudy, they also got basic education and then Rudeus became a tutor/adventurer while Sylphie became a guard to Princess Ariel. Meanwhile Norn does not have any skills to get a job or a suitor to get married so she needs to further her education to hopefully find a field she likes and focus on that.

Not to mention the only school in Sharia is the Magic University, and it's just that, a university. It's emphasized a lot more in the LN that there's a wider age demographic there, and for the most part it's mid/late-teens and young adults there. Granted they're not going to be teaching calculus, statics/dynamics, or relativistic physics, but it's still probably not going to be easy for the average 10 year old given the period of time the setting is based on (aside from Aisha very much not being the definition of average).

Considering what we’ve seen of this world and Rudy’s childhood, Rudy already had a full education and left his family to work around the age Aisha and Norm. Aisha already has a full education and has been trained in a job and really wants to start working, so it makes sense. It appears closer to medieval standards than modern ones. Magic school seems more of a higher education like college or university. Great to have, sure, especially considering the Greyrats are a privileged family and Paul sent a literal treasure chest to them. I worry more about Norn. She seems to have social connection issues, one I’m sure Rudy can relate to if given a chance.

Rudy's sisters have a very complicated relationship before they arrived to Rudy's place. Basically both sisters have inferior complex for different reasons. (which frankly enough is something very common between family or siblings) One main reason is they got different mothers. Zenith's family lives in Milis, which is one reason why Paul decided to make there as a base for finding teleportation survivors. During that period of time, Paul did actually asked the kids to stay with Zenith's family for a while (which is why "Norn's grandmother" was mentioned). Let's just say that, we all know how good a douchbag Paul was back when he was young. Basically Zenith's family wasn't very pleased that Zenith married a runaway boy like Paul. This made Norn's grandmother treated them... let's say she wasn't very friendly to them. It also doesn't help that Milis church doesn't allow men to have multiple wives, so Aisha's situation wasn't very good there. Norn's grandmother often scolds Norn for not being as good as her "half sister" who technically isn't even related to Zenith's family. While Aisha is a very smart and clever kid, she doesn't get the acknowledgment from the adults, and thinking adults love Norn more due to her mother. This caused the two sisters having a very troublesome dynamic. It is understandable Lillia keeps telling Aisha that she's not the first wife of Paul. Lillia feels quite guilty to Zenith for cheating with Paul and therefore having Aisha. But it's really not that easy to accept all this to some young kid. Rudy really treats the two sisters as equal, which starts to change the family dynamic between them (also they got older and more mature after time which possibly helps).

A footnote is that while Lilia did become Paul’s wife it was in name only to legitimatize Aisha as Paul’s daughter in reality it came with some conditions the most important for our sake was Paul would only be able to touch Lilia if Zenith got pregnant again (we learned this in vol 5 of the LN when Paul and Rudeus reunited in Millis) so she wasn’t wrong in thinking of herself as a mistress

17:03 - If you guys remember back in part 1 of this season when Rudy showed them his holy relic, they misunderstood him as someone who loves collecting panties from young women with flat chests. That's why they collected those panties as a form of offering to their "boss".😅

I think good context here is that in this society most people don't even go to school. Most just learn from their parents and do what they do etc. So Aisha not going to school is not as big of a deal as it would be in our modern time. I still personally think she should have been sent to school but hey it is what it is

"What were you doing in the jungle?" Searching for Superd. He couldn't find any on the Demon Continent anymore, and he'd have to go out of his way to get to the Millis Continent, so might as well search the secluded places on the Central Continent while he's there. Said jungle was to the west of the mountain range they passed on their way north towards Shirone. Needless to say, he didn't find any Superd, but he found some remains of Fittoan people, which he sent off to settlements who'd handle them from there.

If no one has mentioned it then about that talk about Eris. Semi spoiler maybe from light novel version of it. Ruijerd tells Rudy that he thinks Eris still probably loves him and that her message probably did mean something different but that he was unsure. Similar to what they did, but it leads him to think more about that he really did misunderstand her message.

I can understand why norn is hesitant around rudeus. With aisha she was saved by rudeus and all norn knows is her dad and rudeus fighting. And even though hes shown her he means no harm, kids are hard to show trust after a bad experience. This all could easily be cleared up with. 1:1 10 minute conversation. Maybe not easily but it would put them in a better position of understanding.

Yeah that the big thing is look at how the met in person for the first time Norn: She sees a boy about twice her age beating up her father and then she learns that’s her brother Aisha: Is saved in “knight in shining armor” situation They had to extremely different first impressions and at 5/6 those leave a lasting impression on how you perceive a person especially if you don’t interact with them for a long time

If we see it through our world lense then Rudy isn't really an adult either but he is married and was considered an adult since 15 like everyone else in that world. We don't know how getting a "degree" in this world would impact her life and future options

They skipped/didn't adapt one of my favorite scenes/line in this episode. Ruijerd saw Eris and Rudeus grow up together and develop feelings with each other. Now coming back and seeing him with some other woman feels awkward and weird I guess. When Rudeus asks why he's leaving so early, Ruijerd says "It's a bit painful to be here for me". He was the biggest Eris x Rudeus shipper.

There is history between Badigadi and Ruijerd stretching back to the Laplace War. Before Laplace launched his campaign against humanity, he unified the Demon Continent through force, which is why his title is the Demon God. For comparison, Kishirika's title of Demon Emperor comes from having a number of Demon Kings swearing allegiance to her (in exchange for Demon Eyes), while Laplace subjugated or neutralized all of them. Badigadi was in the moderate faction opposing Laplace, so the war saw Ruijerd as one of Laplace's top shock troopers against Badi's subjects. Later in the war the Cursed Spears turned Ruijerd and his warriors into berserkers, indiscriminately slaughtering everyone they came across. So the war would leave a lot of grudges between them.

I think Aisha is doing what is right for her now. Maybe she will go to school later or do other things as she is very smart. Norm has a strong hate for Rudy and it probably will take many years to fix, that kind of hate is hard to turn around. If she stay in Rudy’s house she may end up hating him a lot more as she will resent his life vs his dad efforts looking for her mom.

Yeah, but that happened five years ago, she could at least try to be tolerant with him, Paul got over with the fight with rudeus and made up with him. If her father and idol can make up with Rudy then she could follow his example.

She's still a kid and at that age you're not thinking within all reason, Aisha being a special case (even then she is very immature in her own way). Also, why would she try to be tolerant with him? She didn't grow up with him. As far as she knows him, he hits his family and that's that. All I'm saying is that even if it comes off as annoying to some people, I think it's realistic as hell and I really apreciate this depiction of Norn. And to quickly adress what you said about Paul getting over it, that's Paul, not Norn. Has is never happened to you that someone wrongs someone you love and they forgive the person but you still hold a second hand grudge? It's far more emotional than rational, but it's super normal for anyone, especially for a kid.

Regarding Aisha and the decision to have her be a maid, in the LN it’s laid out more clearly what would happen if they passed their magic entrance exams. If each of them passed, they were able to choose what they wanted to do. In Aisha’s case if she passed, she wanted to be the maid for Rudy. If Norn passed, which she didn’t, then she wanted to go to school and live at the dorms. Aisha passed and got what she wanted and Rudy let Norn do what she wanted despite failing because he thought that would be best for her. That’s why Aisha was mad. Also don’t expect Rudy and Sylphy to be amazing parental figures at this point, both of them are literally 16 or 17 years old right now. They are still inexperienced and horny teenagers trying to navigate their own lives as best as they could despite being considered adults in this world. Edit: In the LN Ruijurd explains that it’s too awkward to stay any longer because he always expected Rudy and Eris to marry and the fact that the two are separated now bothers him. Also Ruijurd guarded and watched over both sisters that night when they slept out of habit.

But if you want a much more condensed version of things you missed, there are several KZfaq channels that go over skipped content from the LN. AniNews and Otaku Spirit are some notable ones if you’re interested in what was cut from story. Hope this helps. Also great video 👍🏻

About the section with Ruijerd: (Very mild spoilers from this section in the novels) 1. Rudy's happy to see Ruiherd, but doesn't know what to say to him. He tries to remember what they used tolk about while traveling before Ruijerd brings up Eris. 2. In the novels, Rudy decides to tell Ruijerd everything after episode 22 of season 1. Ruijerd listens to it quietly and only after that forms his response as seen in the anime. Maybe he could see the whole situation from a fellow warrior's perspective and sympathize with Eris. 3. Rudy kind of overreads into the situation and thinks that Ruijerd doesn't want to stay longer because seeing him and Eris separated and Rudy being with a wife is making him uncomfortable. He thinks that Eris was the foundation of his and Ruijerd's friendship and so without her, there's a rift being created among them. But that's just the result of his mind being preoccupied with Eris at the time. Though it's not shown here, Rudy does for a second feel that maybe he made a mistake marrying someone and misunderstanding Eris. Anyway, that's why he doesn't insist Ruijerd to stay.

In the novels it goes into Eris's perspective before she left. It is phenomenally written, all the novels are. Eris is scared the entire time on the demon continent that Rudy will leave her behind. She looks up to him, but after the Orsted fight when Rudeus was experimenting with disturb magic in case he had to fight Orsted again she practically began worshipping him. She initiated that night because she was worried Rudeus would leave her now that he had fulfilled his obligation to see her home. During the act when they held hands she realized how much smaller he was than her, and younger too. she felt like she was taking advantage of him. She felt guilty and selfish for only thinking of her own feelings all this time. She felt she wasn't worthy of Rudeus. She left to train to become worthy. To become someone strong enough to stand at Rudeus's side against Orsted and to not need to be protected by him.

While i can almost gaurantee they won't do Norn's arc justice in the anime.....in the novels she might be my favorite character starting around this part........hopefully they can still do it justice edit: this isn't spoilers.....just about the difference between novel and this episode.... in the novels it was kind of funny, rudeus wanted to leave a good impression on norn this time and was internally going out of his way to come off as decent......and when he was scolding linia and pursena about their scheme with the panty collection she was walking by and happened to overhear his explanation of how he only worships his goddess roxy and her panties and how other girls panties wouldn't hold the same meaning.....and that was all she heard was him admitting to worshipping panties, and since she is in the school she heard the rumors that made their way to princess ariel as well......she just looked at him in shock and disgust and ran off, poor guy was devastated lol i think shes the best written character in the novels, in the anime she won't be 1000%....in the anime rudeus is practically the only focus which makes sense for the medium

@TheGenreVerse it should be, I only got into the novels after season 2 part 1 ended and loved it enough to binge through it......this was my first time reading ahead ever but I loved the story and if anything it just added that much more to the anime I already loved enough to read about haha I see what people complain about now when they watch anime they've read a book on but I have no complaints so far, sucks how much detail they have to cut but they do really good making it work anyway Edit: novels you get everyone's inner thoughts and perspective, anime is just from rudeus perspective 95% of the tome but that works too
