I'm a Slipknot fan and their masks are iconic. But to be honest, Mushroomhead's masks are more nightmare inducing and badass for me.

Something i noticed, in the beginning they were more makeup than anything. As the years progress, and the stage show progressed, and of course the funding progressed and increased so did the theatrical aspect of the masks.

Mushroomhead is the only metal band with the most unique masks ever. I love their concept on how every mask they've created will always incorporate their iconic "X-Face" logo.

My favorite are still the old school black and white masks. The Righteous and the Butterfly era were completely awesome too but the old ones actually made them look like some kinda gang, army or cult. A classic. Having grown up listening to these guys in Youngstown, Ohio too where they originated less than an hour from they were and are basically our hometown heroes.

Saw them a few times back in the day. Probably 20 years ago in Philly. Got to meet Stitch. Needless to say, he was very cool. He took a picture with me too without his mask but put his hand over his face for it. LOL.. Those guys put on a great show!!

I felt like around Savior Sorrow is when they finally started looking more individual. I definitely miss Pig Benis, but Dr. F is a really good bassist in his own right also. It doesn't feel right knowing half the band was fired or quit within the last 6 or 7 years though and the blame is all Skinny.

I'm especially bummed that Dave, his fucking brother, got the boot. I loved him. He was always super cool with fans, and a reasonably talented guitarist. I don't really dislike any of the current members (not sure how I feel about skinny), in fact the new vocalist is great and I always dig female vocalists in hard rock/metal, so I like her being a permanent addition. (all 3 vocalists are great, imo) The new album is definitely one of the better albums they've released in recent memory, though. Haven't really thoroughly enjoyed an album of theirs since XIII, or MAYBE Savior Sorrow. This new one is pretty decent, albeit hugely different from the stuff I loved from them earlier on. Big dumb rant, but I agree. I miss Shmotz, Gravy, and good ol' Pig Benis.

"The blame is all Skinny".... So just not gonna blame Waylon for his coked out rage fest he had? He was coked out of his mind picked a fight with Rick and kicked Rick in the back knowing Rick had a fractured disk. I'd of fired him too. Not everything is Skinny's fault. Jeff leaving was one of the best things to happen to mushroomhead. He was washed up his voice was shit and he didnt even sing live anymore. He lip synced everything. Only one I miss is Jack. Dave was fun but Jack was the coolest/funniest person I've ever met.

The masks for savior sorrow and after I'm a big fan of. The creativity in them show. Everything before hand I don't. I like the original concept to establish the logo/face of the band tho. From 06 and after is where they shine imo.

One nitpick, you associated the original XX (the ones they are wearing on the album cover) masks with the M3 era. during 1999, they wore the same masks as the Superbuick/Remix era but were wearing white camo by that point, then they wore the all black outfits that carried over to the early XX era, but they hadn't incorporated the crude X-Face into their masks yet.

Say what you want, but I always liked their masks from M3 / XIII times, the same masks with some distinguishable accessories for each player, plus vocalists wearing only make-up, this simplicity is what drawn me to these guys, after that they just went overboard, appearance wise, they're just another Slipknot now, but that's my opinion...
