I'm hearing Rammstein, Eisbrecher, Combichrist... and it's almost like you're speaking to me. I loved those bands (and still do), and still listen to them regularly. Also, for anyone who says "[band] has been around forever, where have you been?", you always find new stuff, no matter how old you are or where you're from, there's always new stuff to find. I still remember finding Heilung for the first time, maybe ten years ago. I remember my first time listening to Fear Factory, Front Line Assembly... hell, Seigmen (Norwegian band, eventually some members moved to LA and formed Zeromancer) is another. If you've heard of Zeromancer, one of the members of the band (Kim Ljung) also has an indie band he started in 2005 called Ljungblut. He performed in English at first, but now sings in his native Norwegian... but it's an amazing band, and I don't think you'll be sorry if you give it a shot. Definitely not metal in the slightest, but if you end up liking Seigmen and/or Zeromancer, you'll like them too. Music is an adventure, and you're never too old to go on a new one.

If you like that kind of folk/metal blend you need to check out The HU. They are a Mongolian folk metal band, and they seem to be exactly the kind of group might be missing out on. I would also suggest checking out the Japanese math rock group toe. I don't think they are the kind of music you typically listen do, but since you mentioned liking percussion they might be worth giving a listen to. Their drummer is an absolute beast behind the kit. I'd highly recommend checking out videos of their live performances, specifically the tracks "Goodbye" and "Esoteric".

Wow, it’s really awesome to hear you like Babymetal! They’re one of my favs and seeing them on their last North American tour was amazing, I was in the mosh pit haha. A similar group I also like is Hanabie, they’re in the same category of “cute metal” but the vocalist also has a really awesome scream/growl. Might be a bit heavier than you want but thought I would recommend. BAND-MAID is another pop rock type group from Japan that you might like

Wind Rose is great. The song everyone knows them from is Diggy Diggy Hole. Fantastic song. Not metal, but I've been very into The Longest Johns. They do folk music and they tour North America.

I love hearing that you enjoy Babymetal. I’ve been listening to them a bunch in the last two years and so glad I stopped judging musicians for anything besides their art. Metallica and Avenged Sevenfold are bands that I feel I was a snob for growing up. So grateful to have a much wider collection of music I’m open to. We’ll never listen to everything so it’s good to delve into the stuff that hits you along the journey. ❤ cool to hear you talk music

You might enjoy Baldrs Draumar. They’re a Friesan Metal and Folk Band. Some of their albums are metal and some are folk. Njord is a great friesan folk album and Magnus is a great metal album in Friesan. That description of certain folk music being ancient metal really fits their music imo

If you like Heilung, I would recommend Wardruna and also a German folk and metal band called Empyrium. The latter band started as a metal band, went on a dark folk phase in the late nineties and 2000s, and went back to metal in 2021.

Babymetal has been firing off singles at a pretty good rate for a while. They did one called Metali!! with Tom Morello, pretty fun crossover

Try Skáld and Myrkur if you enjoy Heilung. Edit: The Hu as others have mentioned as well as Otyken (has a Little Big or Die Antwoord vibe to them as well) For something a bit different also check out Miracle of Sound and Peyton Parrish

All For Metal is another power/ folk metal band from Germany/Italy. That is relatively new on the metal scene. They have music videos and an album, self titled. Check out Goddess of War and Run both on their self titled album and each have a music video. They even do a cover of Rock You Like Hurricane, music video too.

If you’re still up for music suggestions, my big one for you would be Rishloo. I know you love Tool and their two albums “Feathergun in the Garden of the Sun”and “Living as Ghosts with Buildings as Teeth” are both masterpieces of progressive metal. Their lyricism coupled with singer Andrew’s soaring high pitched vocals really help them stand out amongst the crowd in the genre. Trust me in a huuuuge prog rock/metal snob ;P

I don’t know any viking metal but tide-the bad sea has an awesome vibe. Cascades of gold is also a really good song by them too. They’re a broken up band from UK that only played like a handful of shows and very few views on youtube but i always listen to these songs they’re fantastic musicians.

Listen to Iron Age - The Sleeping Eye If you want a metal band (heavy guitars and drums) that touches on that ancient music flavor, Iron Age perfected it. They are truly one of those "your favorite bands favorite band". A legendary band.

If you enjoy Babymetal, may I recommend Lovebites? It's an all Japanese female band that wears white dresses that plays Power Metal. Their name was inspired by the Halestorm song, Love Bites (and so do I). Also, I recommend another Japanese band, Man With a Mission. Those guys all wear Wolf Heads and writes some fun tunes.

Sigur Ros and Alien Weaponry are not personal favorites but I think could fit your request based on the one Heilung song I listened to plus your Rammstein and percussion preference.

I've been a fan of Babymetal for a while. Su-Metal is a fantastic singer. If I'm being completely honest, part of it for a bit was that they made metal purists livid. There was just something hilarious to me about a trio of (at the time) teenage Japanese girls causing metalheads to throw tantrums. But the music is actually very good. If you've never seen it, I highly recommend watching their performance at Sonisphere from 2014. (2014! How was that a decade ago?!) One of the best live shows ever, IMHO.

They’re not ancient and don’t really match bands like Heilung, but some metal bands you might check out are Sunn O))) and Boris. Each band is pretty experimental and they both have their own ways of giving a new twist on what heavy music is, so if you like something “non-conventional” check out their discographies. It’s awesome you’re branching out with music! Now I have some new listening as well. It’s crazy how much music there is to explore, let us know what else you find/like! I also really hope you have a great trip, Disney will be a blast. You deserve a vacation, being one of the hardest working KZfaqrs on the platform!

Check out LadyBaby, similar to Babymetal. They spawned from the persona of an australian pro wrestler (Ladybeard) so it's a huge white guy dressed like sailor moon and two tiny japanese models. Good songs are Nippon Manjyuu and Damedame Tono. Other Babymetal songs to check out are Awadama Fever, YAVA!!! and Gimme Chocolate As for the ancient metal I second other suggestions- The HU and Alien Weaponry
@neeltheother234226 күн бұрын
A lot of the negativity surrounding Babymetal comes from those fellow snobs that you said you were a part of then. You find snobs in every genre but I feel like metal fans the ones who are, across the board, the snobbiest, because of the sheer number of subgenres and insular communities that exist within it. Like, there's no such thing as a casual metalhead lol. Also, I don't know where this "ancient metal" tag came from because it's not even metal music lol. The genre tag I've heard the most describing those bands (which I think is the most accurate) is pagan/Nordic folk music. As far as pagan metal music is considered, a popular one is Moonsorrow, which is a Finnish band and their songs are quite long and very enchanting.

"It's not Sepultura without Max" That sentiment and mentality drive me nuts.
@neeltheother234226 күн бұрын
@@J_Aaron_L Yes, you see that with almost every band, with the most widespread being Metallica and how they've fallen off since Cliff died. Or really, any band that becomes popular, the "sellout" tag is attached to them.

Metal fan first and foremost. Everything from 80s thrash to technical death. At the same time I've always loved 80s 90s pop, disco, and techno. In my 41 yo opinion, there is more good new music than ever before. I'll only suggest on song though. Protest the Hero - Mist That's my suggestion because well... Newfoundland. Not all their stuff is so pop punky. More technical metal but dang these Canadians rip.

Update on Vegas or Anaheim is our favourite prog rock band Glad you're also a fan But yeah the only genre we cannot just cannot listen to is country But we also get that people like what they like. The only issue with being a snob is usually you're depriving yourself of something for a stupid reason. But sometimes it's cause you also know you'd realllly not enjoy it Glad to see another Baby Metal fan. Been a fan since day 1 purely accidentally and then was stunned to see all this hate and vitriol about them.

U should try Electric Callboy from Germany. The collaboration w Baby Metal is a 50/50 collaboration. Also, try the Electric Callboy songs, Pump It and Tekkno Train from the album, Tekkno. Kontrust is another band that is groove oriented rock/metal from Austria, w a percussionist and a drummer. And they all wear lederhosen and dirndl. Bc there is also a male and a female vocalist. Kontrust songs, Lederhosen Overkill Physically Like You. From the album, Mad World. Pump It , Tekkno Train, Lederhosen Overkill, and I Physically Like You, all have official music videos. Please check out both bands as my recommendations to u.
