Rock and many other genres have such gigantic variety within itself though. You could certainly listen predominantly to rock and never fall into disorder. Although you're right, bluegrass and Irish folk are where it's at.

Adding to it, at least for me it's safe for me to say that all artists/musicians/writers etc. heave their own ideologies which shape the way they create their crafts, and as experience has shown to me the vast majority of them, especially today, have no intention to at least try to save souls (if they don't go out their way to insult the Church, for example). I want to say you're better off just listening to "Christian" music such as K-Love but it's entirely Protestant, and as part of their "worship" they probably appeal to the lower passions as well.

Music today is an all drum machine, beat heavy vanilla sausage of sameness that targets the most primitive part of the brain. The music industry targets the youngest listeners to condition them to this. Music is a purely manufactured thing now with no thought other than force feeding it to be consumed by the public. They do this by promoting and playing music wherever you might be on any given day even if you don’t want to hear it, you’re going to...and there are also recording techniques to make music stand out more as well by compressing the recording to make everything loud with no quiet passages at all. And of course the artist themselves are hand-picked to be marketed and touted as some sort of musical geniuses to the young people who don’t know any better. You see artists being given awards and talked about as if to not like them would mean you were not in the mainstream. Once they have the attention of the young listeners with the technical aspects of this disordered technique, the medium can be use for social engineering with all sorts of different messages they want to indoctrinate the young with. Just look at all of the over-the-top outrageous imagery and cursing that is in all the music the young people listen to as they take it all in stride as they bop their heads! The old adage is garbage in garbage out and it applies here. Anybody with an iPad can re-create the same songs that you hear on popular radio stations today. As the venerable Fulton Sheen said to the young people about the mass, you get out of it what you bring to it. Parents should teach their children about music and encourage them to learn how to play an instrument so that they learn the healthy intellectual way of arranging music as Mr. Venari stated, and when they look back at this current generation of music that they think is good they will wonder why they ever liked it at all in the first place.

What about jazz?

Some see it as harmless in spite of its origins and past associations. We would only urge listeners to be cautious and attentive to the character of response it evokes from them. God bless you. www.bbc.com/culture/article/20170224-the-mysetrious-origins-of-jazz?referer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F www.catholicculture.org/commentary/what-about-bad-music/

but what about what factual science says about why music stirs us up ,you talk about low tones but not about what happens neurologically in the brain when we listen to music,

When a song promotes decadence, sex, lust, drugs, apathy, hate, anger, agitation etc. toward (your duty) God or fellow man, avoid it. It's not rocket science.

This sounds like Protestant style criticism of music.

What makes it Protestant?
@claylippert72035 жыл бұрын
Catholics before Vatican II were always more conservative than Protestants.
