I finally was able to demo the Music Man Dark Ray Bass at Guitar Center in Manhattan! It was really cool to flick a switch for overdrive and mot worry about dealing with a pedal.

Love the look of it but never been a big fan of fuzz/distortion on bass. I just feel like I blew a speaker when I've used it. Lol

maxproud! How ya doing, man?? Yes, it was fun to play but I'm currently holding off on buying more bass until I sell off of few of the ones I have. Yes, that GC was huge in comparison to any of the locations we have here in Georgia! The one in Los Angeles is even larger.

I've seen you are fond of Stingrays. Have you ever tried the G&L Kiloton? There are the Fullerton made and Tribute series made in Indonesia. The difference between the Kiloton and the L-1000 is that the humbucker is in the Stingray position. Also passive so no need for a battery. The MFD pickups are so hot because Leo Fender was losing his hearing over the years.

No, I haven't tried the Kiloton but I have played the L-2000 and I like it. I definitely plan to add a G&L bass to my collection and I've had my eye on the L-1000 for well over a year now. It would be blasphemy if I didn't, after owning multiple Fender and Music Man basses. I didn't know Leo Fender had issues with his hearing in his latter years.

I bought that Darkglass Ultra plugin for Logic a couple of years ago, after doing a Metal session through it and fell in love. It's a lot of fun too!

😂 I know what you're saying, but I always try to pretend that I know nothing in the music stores in order to keep things humble. He was a pleasant dude, just doing his job. Either way, I can only hear so much before I finally let someone know that I'm aware of what they're talking about. Off camera, I showed him pics and video of my BFR Fretless (thank you for the compliment!) and even my SUB fretless, which is a fine bass but heavy as hell. Other than letting him know that I knew the electronics were Darkglass, I didn't talk about my Omicron pedal or my Neural Darkglass Ultra Suite I've had for years.

@@progrockjock yeah i feel that. It lets them do their job and you dont come off as a snob. Cause i mean, while we know what darkglass is, he may have just learned. I just couldnt help but chuckle 😂😂 bro your collection has some SUPER snazzy looks and they all sound great!

It should be lighter. The wood they remove in the cavity ti accommodate for the PCB is much heavier. I've been keeping an eye on these at sweetwater and they seem to range from 8.7 to 10.7lbs

I agree with you and I saw the 2-pound weight fluctuation as well, but the one in this video was definitely on the heavy side. The salesman in the video agreed off camera.
