Nemophila (Neh•mo•fee•la) is a band of 5 Aces. The drummer, Tamu, and Saki, 2nd soloist, are both music royalty with established resumes/pedigrees. Hazuki, 1st soloist, is a guitar phenom, same goes for bassist, Haraguchi san and Mayu, vocalist. Their channel is also fully stuffed with covers from their jam room that you’ll love. nemophila is one of the fast rising new bands recently, their members are all from different bands, high level musicians and musical diversity are their characteristics, You can hear a different genre or element in each of their songs. Check out《adabana》next please!🤘🏻🌸🤘🏻

My favorite Nemophila song is currently 'Adabana', but if you want something with minimal growls, try 'STYLE' or 'Life'. But also check out 'Adabana'. The drum break is outstanding.

Hey Rick. I have to admit it took a couple listens for me to understand Band-Maid, Lovebites, Nemophila,and yes even Babymetal. I guess I’m a slow learner, but Nemophila’s Life is when I really took a pause and fell down another rabbit hole. I just dropped too much money to see them a SXSW as day passes aren’t available, but I’m in. You can’t take it with you! I’m still awaiting the foreign lottery to open for the other band. I can’t wait to go to Japan for whatever concert is available.

@@michelm.6033 I understand. If I'd been a faster adopter, I would have seen Nemophila at the Whisky a Go Go in July. As it is, I've got a ticket for the L.A. show in 2023.

@@rickwagner- still considering going to Mexico if tickets are available. I’m really concerned about their safety if they take bus versus flying. Yes I am an airline pilot and we have have crews stopped by cartel members and robbed in a hotel van. Don’t misunderstand me. The Mexican people are exceptionally nice, but crime is what it is and probably no more than in New York. I’d be happy and relieved to just cover the cost of plane tickets back to the US instead of a road travel if that’s what they are planning.

Aldious is another all female band to check out start with their song We Are the drummer for Aldious Marina Bozzio has a drum set with 3 Bass Drums and her Dad was famous. Terry Bozzio he played with Frank Zappa and Missing Persons

Nemophila is pure 🔥🔥🔥. Not all their songs are this heavy but they’re all fantastic. Mayu is an incredibly versatile vocalist, angelic to banshee wildcat and everything in between. Try Adabana or Revive next.

I’m not much of a metal guy but there is something special about this band and these incredible musicians. Plus they do mix up their sound more than most metal bands I know (old ones) to use more traditional rock styles so they are more palatable to me. I can listen to them without the boredom I find with most metal and I find their presence and performance compelling. They are interesting and I can’t say I feel that way about 98% of metal bands. Enjoy the ride, Tyler!!!

A lot of the female Japanese metal bands are like that. There are a lot of genres mixed in. Babymetal does that the most. Also I agree. I love that. One genre music is boring. The craziest is Maximum the Hormone. They mix genres like crazy. You gotta check out Maximum the Hormone. You probably won't like it. But they are straight brilliant.

I've been watching you TYLR... I've watched you wade through some Lovebites, some BAND MAID!! Ive been wondering when you would trip over Nemophila, when Mayu screamed at the start I laughed seeing your initial reaction, you have so much homework to do with Japanese all female hard rock/metal band's it will take you month's just to get through the most mainstream of them, however you have now been exposed to my top 3, good luck and happy hunting, I'm into my 6th year and still in discover mode, I'm in my sixties and have never rocked harder.

NEMOPHILA is J-Awesome. They refuse to be put in a box and will mix genres at will. Keep delving, you'll see. This band has got the magic. For cleans, try the studio version of LIFE 🌸✨🌠

Nemophila are a bit special. They do a lot of different things and they all sound like Nemophila, and even if they don’t grab you initially, they usually eat worm and catch you unawares a little later. If you think this is awesome, which it is, and get this excited, Hanabie will make your head explode. Try “We Love Sweets”, you’ll be very glad you did. More Nemophila? All their originals have something going on and Oiran live from Naon Yaon will have you booking tickets to Japan.

Heck yea! You landed on one of my favorites. I grew up with rock and the beginnings of metal back in the 1960’s. This is the best Metal core band out their today. To be honest I fell out of love with the genre a couple of decades ago as it it was repetitive male screams to, “satanic,” generally lyrics. This group revived my love of the genre. Mayu’s higher pitched scream and clean vocals, combined with more positive lyrics, insane drumming, bass, and two of the worlds greatest shredding guitarists. What is there to not love about this group. I’m more into their original works more than their early covers, but those are also good. Their original album dropped just a year ago and their second album is set for release before the end of this year. It doesn’t matter what you react too as it’s all great. Keep supporting these ladies.

So let me drop some more background (just a little, I have much more). Their first performance outside of Japan was at the Whiskey A-GoGo in LA in July 2022. They then played at Aftershock Metal festival in Sacramento CA in October 2022. They will be back in North America in March 2023 after the lead singer (Mayu) gives birth to her first child (Nov/Dec 2022). They will perform in Sacramento, San Fransisco, Los Angeles San Diego (I believe) and then Mexico City before coming back to Austin Texas for SXSW (South By Southwest) and on to New York (Manhattan Island). More dates might be announced, but…. Actually I’m surprised an (approx. 6 month pregnant) women would scream at Aftershock and then come back with an (approx 4 month old child) to perform over 2 weeks in 6 cities and two countries. Much, Much, respect to that women.

To show out of touch or lacking knowledge, metal NEVER has it been primarily Satanic like lyrics. There has also always been metal that was not harsh vocals. That being said Nemo is pure 🔥.

PS- I m on vacation now, so I’m free to discuss. To show how out of touch, or lacking I was, I will repeat I love Nemophila. I was simply referring to a very basic way for those less knowledgeable than you or I to a genre (my apologizes if I offended any one). However, let’s go brother, after a trip to the store.

Yep, congratulations on finding Nemophila (pronounced Ne-mo-fee-la). They have a lot of covers (from very notable rock bands like Iron Maiden), and a lot of originals. You won't get pure clean vocals on any song from the Banshee Queen Mayu, but I'm sure you'll grow to love her (and the whole band anyway). Vocalist Mayu is currently expecting her kid, so she will not be featured in their performances at current moment. I heard the band was going instrumental in the mean time (and boy, do they have the chops for that!), but.... hey can anyone confirm what the band is doing at current moment please? (We've all been distracted by Band-Maid 😅)

After performing with Nemophila at Aftershock festival, Mayu is taking maternity leave until January 2023, when they start a tour of Zepp venues in Japan. In the interim, the four musicians (Hazuki, Saki, Haraguchi-san and Tamu) will perform an instrumental set without Mayu on December 5th, 2022 in Tokyo. They'll be back in North America in March of 2023 with shows in Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Mexico City and Austin. The new album is due out on December 14th, 2022.

All of " Nemo phi la's " original music is Killer & they do great covers. They have 4 dates announced for a North America tour next yr....stay tuned for more. They're on hiatus right now, Mayu the lead singer is going to have a baby soon. Anyway try, " Adabana, " great song. ❤️🎙🎸🥁🤘😎

Welcome to the amazing world of Nemophila, your reaction was priceless! This is such a great band and Mayu is a one of a kind singer. Next up in my opinion should be one of there latest releases Seize the Fate that song slays. I even had the pleasure to interview Mayu and Saiki (lead guitarist ) and they were so cool and just made me love this band even more. Just subbed now let’s do more Nemophila please

Vocalist MAYU is versatile. To hear her sing clean, no screams, listen to NEMOPHILA’s covers of MAKE YOU HAPPY (NIZIU) and DON’T SAY LAZY. If Japanese Metal Core is your thing, try WE LOVE SWEETS by HANABIE.

Great review! Now that you met 3 different styles/bands from Japan's all female talent pool, you should check out a 4th. Gacharic Spin doesn't settle on a style. they consider themselves entertainers. They have music for the young and young at heart and for adults. I think their masterpiece "I Wish I" would be a great start. Enjoy the trip down the rabbit hole 🤘👍😄 By the way, lots of other great Nemophila songs list by others....not a bad song from them!

After leaving the rock band Lipstick, vocalist Mayu was looking to put together a backing band to support her at an August 22, 2019, live session. She contacted her former classmate and bassist Haraguchi-san, and the two recruited drummer Tamu Murata through magazines and website posts. Mayu was introduced to Mary's Blood guitarist Saki through a mutual friend, and Saki in turn introduced them to Disqualia guitarist Hazuki. Feeling that this line-up was too good to be a one-off, the musicians decided to form a real band. My favorite band to date Nee-mo-fee-la. I discovered in Jan. of 2020. I missed their show in LA and Sacramento this year but I did get a couple of tickets for their show in LA on March 9 2023. I enjoy everything they put out (covers and original stuff) Enjoy your trip down this rabbit hole friend. Enjoying your reactions.

Yes, she's a very good vocalist, but if you think she is the best unclean/clean female vocalist take a look at the Japanese band Hanabie and their song We Love Sweets, this might change your mind. 🤘❤‍🔥

Normally I can't stand scream vocals at all, but the mix Mayu delivers I can listen to non-stop. Best scream/growl male vocalist is Will Ramos from the band Lorna Shore! Best scream/growl female band is a tie between Jinjer and Hanabie Best Japaneese harsh vocal bands Crystal Lake, Hanabie, Telecide, Bridear, A.C.M.E., C-Gate, JILUKA, Maximum the Hormone, Rottengraffty, and the Indonesian band - Burgerkill

Mayu is my favorite metal vocalist these days: versatile, and (for me) the best fry screams. But it's those smoky, evocative cleans of hers that really seal the deal. Another brilliant Japanese female "unclean" vocalist is a.k.i. (from the now-defunct metalcore band TELECiDE). Wide range (screams to growls...no cleans), with fantastic nuance and emotion. SHe's getting back on stage for the first time in almost four years later this month with a couple other ex-TELECiDE members and some others.

There are quite a few good female screamers. Like Angela Gossow of Arch Enemy, who was replaced by Alyssa White-Gluz, who also got nice clean. American band spiritbox is in the same category. Even one of the best vocalists, Floor Jansen of Nightwish does some... Best female screamer? Must be Tatiana of the Ukrainian band Jinjer. My favourite is "I speak astronomy". The video is great, so would be a good start?

wait until you hear Hanabie's - We love Sweets, then we talk about Japanese metal core))) actually, you are right, Murata Tamu is a very distinguished drummer in the Japanese metal scene. Whichever song you pick, you won't make a mistake. Maybe a whole song without screaming would be "Raitei"

Mayu is a great vocalist. However if your after a treat. Check out "Greyen" by Mergingmoon. They have a great live vid on their channel. And Yu will change your religion! As far as best unclean/extreme female vocalist. You really need to get out more. Tatiana (Jinjer) is the current reigning queen of extreme atm.

Not the best screamer. Yukina from Hanabie is the best imo. But Mayu can sing better than Yukina. Mayu is great all around. 'I don't know if there is a genre of Jmetal.' I was going to laugh. There are a ton of great Japanese metal bands. But nobody says Jmetal. So maybe he was technically correct.

Not even close...Yu Umehara is the queen of Japan as far as extreme/unclean vocals atm.
